So I just got a call from the GM Dealer, and instead of having a simple boot leak as I had suspected, they are indicating that my turbo is bad, and is leaking oil from the shaft. Thus, it appears I need to upgrade quicker than originally thought.

Any advice regarding a good replacement. I would like a direct fit model if possible, and something that will hopefully be compatible with my PPE Xcelerator tuner (although I may upgrade that). Anyway, from what I read here recently, I am thinking probably the Cheetah or GT4094VA.

I don't know how much time I have before my turbo dies, but I need to get this moving quickly so availability is also an issue. And, anyone who can recommend a good shop to do an install that is anywhere near Las Vegas (i.e. Southern Cal/Souther Utah/Norther AZ) please let me know that as well.

Thanks!!!

well shit, I was thinking you had a bad boot, hate for you to get this news.

Maybe get it to PPE (in socal) and see if they can slap you a good turbo on it. Call Dan at PPE.

Let me know if you find a place and need it trailered somewhere.

I'm just wondering but do you have your pcv rerouted. Maybe that is where the oil is coming from and you turbo isn't bad. I know in your other thread you were talking about it being oily around the boot. Mine were the same way until I rerouted the pcv. And one other thing I'd check is the drivers side intercooler pipe. Mine is starting to wear on a cable on the bottom side close to where it goes into the intercooler.

Thats a good piont. When you pull the inlet off the turbo its common to see some oil. Figured the dealer would know what they are talking about but, here in Vegas there isnt many people that know much about this stuff...

Did they check the boots for leaks or cracks?

Did they pressure test the system and intercooler?

Well, I suppose it doesn't matter too much now because I've got a Cheetah 68 on the way. Chad at Alligator Performance highly recommended this one for me and I took his advice. I wanted to purchase one eventually so I guess I got my wish thrust upon me.

I'm going to have to go see Mike down in Inglewood though or my transmission may be the next thing to go.

A Cheetah would work perfect or a Danville charger. I had drivability issues with my PPE and Cheetah though.
