Help me decide on a 2015 lift

I Just picked up my first Chevy, a 2500 ccsb and love everything but the stance. The rear is 3" higher than the front. I would love to level it and put a bit larger tire under it.

I've done the big lift in the past and want to stay mild with this truck as it is a dd. Stock tires are 265/60/20.

My first plan was to use a cognito uca kit, keys and bilstien shocks to level it, and toyo at2 295/60/20 and a 20x9 rim w a 5" back space. But... I've been told that a leveling kit will screw w the front end and ruin the ride.

First of all, is this true? If it is, would there be a better way to level it? Assuming that it will work, would the tires rub? I don't mind trimming the valance, but I really don't want to cut the back.

If a leveling kits isn't the best solution, would a 4" cognito kit be a better choice?

If I went w the 4" kit, would I need a lever tire?

Depending on the kit you choose ride suffers. If you use the cognito kit you'll notice a slight difference but overall it'll be good still. mine rides fine with cognito ucas and bilstiens and I run a 305/55/20 which is both wider and taller then what you plan to use I run a 0 offset on a 4.5" backspace.

I'd level it that way of you don't like it lift it. The ucas can be used with any lift down the road and only help with ride again.

Do you have any issues rubbing?

Lastly, do you notice any power loss w the bigger tire, and did you recalibrate you computer for the new tires?

Here's another question about the tire size.

From what I'm seeing, a 305/55/20 is 33.2"x12", and a 295/60/20 is 33.9"x11.6". Looks like yours are a bit wider, but not as tall.

Stockers are 265/60/20, which work out to be 32.5"x10.4".

With the 295s, I'd be going up about 1.5" and 1" wider.

On your 2015 the largest tire/wheel combo recommended is 33x11.5, 8-9" wheel with 5.0-5.5" back space. People have cleared larger using the "fender mod" but the recommended size is above. A leveling kit has the ability to ride like factory if you use it as it is intended. Some try and use it as a 4" lift and get back into the rough ride. The Cognito package will give you 28% more travel over a factory control arm as well.

I did pull the fender liner back a couple of inches with some zip ties but that's it. Ride is a little stiffer than stock but not by much. It is leaps and bounds better than my LMM ever was with the leveling kit...

I feel like I should just go for the 4" lift instead of doing the level and not being happy w the ride after because the tbars are too tight.

Mine's a 2011 model, but the Rancho has worked out well for me. And saved about $700 over the Cognito, I don't know how they are priced now but I never bought that hype..

The only thing I wouldn't recommend is Rancho shocks, never been happy with mine. My kit come with the RS5000's.. I'm going to replace those soon.

True 35"x12.5x20 fit with no rubbing. 20x9 wheel, 0 offset.

The combo is for a Cognito leveling package for your year of truck. And there is a typo in my above post, BS is 5.0-5.5" on the 2011+

That's the perfect height. The wheels fill out the openings and look clean.

Can you tell me how high is ur truck sitting now on wheel well i am trying to see if i should use 4'' lift but some trucks seems to be hier then others and i like how urs look but now how some others look with clamed to be same set up can you post some picks with a measuring tape thank you

I want d to update the progress in the lift so far.

I had Cognito ucas installed last week w keys and idler brace. I used the shock extenders because the truck came w Rancho shocks. Stock wheels are 265/60/20s.

The plan is to go with 285/60/20s but the rims are back ordered so keeping the stock wheels/tires until they show up.

Before:


Stock height was 39.5" to the top of wheel well. With the Cognito leveling kit it sits at 42.25" now. The rear is 42.5". Ride is a bit stiffer but not terrible.

I'm considering the Cognito 4" kit and 295/60/20s. I may order these tires too, then try both before I make a decision.

Looks good! Here's a 2015 gmc we did a set of wheels and tires on.

295/60/20 on 20x9 with 0 offset if I remember right.

5 turns on the torsion bolts and that's it. Still no where close to level but it does not rub at all. Front valance is removed because it was hideous!
