I have a 06 LBZ,
Not mine but it ran good and had bad head gaskets, so another shop did the work and screwed up doing the head gaskets, mech didn't adjust valves #6 intake got messed up.
I went it found the problem and fixed it,
Now, when you run it down the road it feels almost like its in limp mode, low power but still gets moving and goes through the rpm range and shifts, (not perfect but works)
then usually around 45mph of limping along WOT it will all out cut loose and pull hard to 95mph. Once or twice I got it to pull from 0mph but its never consistant, once it took until 80mph and sometimes around 30mph but its usually in that 45 50mph range that it goes. If your running 65mph+ and cruising and then stand on it, it will usually take off no problem. If you slow down to 30 and go WOT it takes a while. While WOT once in a while I can feel it kinda surge like it wants to cut loose but its very slight.
While its running weak, boost is around 12lbs, when it lets loose it hit 22-24lbs
fuel psi idle is 4500ish then you hit the throttle it goes up around 16-19kpsi but kinda bounces around, again when it cuts loose it jumps just like the boost up to around 25,500psi give or take.
No smoke or very little if any.
It had an exhaust break I thought may have caused it, so I removed it completely, even back to stock exhaust (no cat).
It had a fass pump on it, I thought maybe it was not working right, bypassed it, same thing.
Looks like it had a egr delete, but the plate was laying in the back of the truck when I got it.
I have no idea what the other mech did or did not do, I know he is a joke though. I was getting Maf codes, switch maf, havent had another.
Although I havent drove the truck more than a 10 miles there are no current codes.

I would like to say the turbo is dumping boost like a stuck waste gate but then there would be lost of smoke and wouldn't fuel demand spike also. Both fuel and boost are working together
any help would be great.

I can't find anything from searching.

So I thought maybe the egr was sticking causing problems, deleted it and same F ing thing.
But the egr cooler was bad and I think that might have been the cause for the other mech to replace the head gaskets (pressure coolant), all this is prob a result of a bad egr tube.
But I'm still not sure what is going on, when I find it I will post and maybe in the future it will help someone.

Do you know someone with a tech II or efilive? If so try watching the turbo vane actual position and commanded position. Sounds like the turbo vanes are sticking or like coco said maybe the sensor is bad. Check for codes either way because not all codes turn on the check engine light.

You need to datalog it. It should be coding.

Flash a stock tune in it and see what all codes you get.

Something as simple as a single sensor unplugged can do that, or a crappy aftermarket tune.

Sorry I didn't get back sooner. Put on a scanner again and everything is doing what it should, turbo % matches and fpr matches. But I figured out (never seen one before) it had a finger stick. I unplugged the maf sensor and it had a little more bottom end but still low power and then wouldn't cut loose on top. Thats when I went looking into the wiring and found it, so I figured WTH and took it off, went for a drive and with the little bit of wet roads we have and half bald tires the only problem is getting traction, the freakin thing hauls azz now. :woott:

But I have CEL light now,

Now my question is with the egr tube out and seeing how it had a finger stick it was still throwing codes on the scanner and eventually it would throw the cel on, which it shouldn't from my understanding.
But I think my best bet is hook up the efi live and get rid of the egr and maf codes etc... what do you think

# 6 intake valves went down because when he did the gaskets he didn't adjust the valves (or didn't do it right) non of them where correct.

Thanks for the reply's, I'm in northern WY
