05 lly engine rattles won't rev up <hr style="color:#fff; background-color:#fff" size="1"> New to the forum, so I need some help.

Last night heading home with my sons my truck went from 70 mph to rattling like the engine was going to fall apart, rpm went down, would not rev past 2000 rpm. Rattles like a commercial Mercedes benz truck, but won't accelerate...

Has no power, will barely shift to 2nd gear, then goes about 20 mph only. We stopped, shut it down, let it sit for about a minute, then it ran normally, but the engine light was on.

Stopped at a gas station to take a look at everything (unscrewed the drain on the bottom of the fuel filter, no water, removed the fuel filter to turn upside down to check for dirty condition, but it was perfectly clean. Started truck, ran perfectly with no check engine light for about 40 miles. Then it stopped running normally, with same symptoms as before. Wife came and rescued us at 2:00 this morning.

This morning i went with a trailer to recover my truck, and had to put it into 4 low to even get it on a trailer, as it would not accelerate at all, just knocked, and clattered like bad detonation in a gas engine.

Please help

I checked the harness that goes over the bracket next to the alternator from some device that the fuel line runs through. No nicks, rubbed wires, all clean.

Where would another harness be?

What is this box on passenger side front of engine by Bosch?

Sounds like the injector harness. Do you have a way to check balance rates?

Where is the injector harness? I checked the one by the alternator but no problems seen there.

What are balance rates? By that question, you can tell i probably have no way to check them.

Injector harness right off the injectors. You would have to pull the fender liners to get decent access to them. Do you or a buddy have some sort of tuner that plugs into the obd port at the bottom of your dash? That is how you would check balance rates and clear engine codes.

Glad to hear you got your truck fixed :thumb:

Just curious if you copy and pasted from DF? Since you have hyperlinks in your original post?
