I've got an 06 ccsb and have a problem with my seats. When its cold in the morning you hit the heat controls on the door and they will come on for a few seconds then turn off. After the truck warms up the seats will stay on. Anyone else have this problem?

I had similar symptoms when my element burnt out. I replaced the drivers seat bottom element (it was visibly burnt) and it's been perfect for several years now. It's not difficult to do.

I got mine at the dealer but I think I saw aftermarket discussed here a while ago, maybe Katskins?

You are lucky yours is easy to fix. Mine are possessed, they turn on by themselves in the middle of summer and there is no clear fix. I ended up unplugging the entire seat.

Sounds like you need to replace the switch in the door. Dorman also makes those. Rock auto has them as well as a couple other brands.

Nope unplugged the switch and it still comes on. I tried to track the problem down for over a year and finally gave up when I was down to high dollar dealership only parts.

What is yours doing exactly? Where are your controls mounted? On my 2005, they are on the sides of the seat rather than in the door, so it's just a simple on/off switch.

Controls are on the door. When I turn them on lights stay on for approx 20-30 seconds then they turn off driver seat never gets warm. Passenger seat does the same thing.

GM Repair Procedures

I don't have a manual for the OP's 2006, but I do have a 2005 manual. Hopefully these help. This should be everything necessary to diagnose and repair the heated seats, assuming you have access to a Tech2. (Though you can usually figure it out without one, it is just a bit of guessing and luck.)
