I think all the graphite gasket does is seal water and oil. The fire rings do the rest of the work. Fire rings will hold the boost, but aren't daily driver friendly.
I came to the same conclusion on my Cummins. They cracked twice after 15k mi and plenty of 2000* runs. Planed my head, deck and pistons then 0-ringed both. Haven't had the head off in the last 40k mi. :thumb:

When I built my first engine for my pulling truck in 2010 I ran something a little different but kinda like a fire ring. They were nitrogen filled rings and you would only cut a groove in the block not the heads and the head gaskets actually were cut to fit around them not crush with them. I was only 872hp at the wheels and running about 55lbs of boost but I never had any issues with them. I didn't use them this last time around but that's mostly because they were $100 a piece and I kept changing things around and got sick of buying them.

Oem gaskets and regular ARP studs are plenty sufficient for 900hp.

I know they were overkill at the time I was just simply letting you guys know of another option for anyone running big power that is having problems.

Well, little update. About 5 weeks ago I noticed some abnormal pressure in the cooling system after some aggressive driving. I took it out for a hard run to see if it would spit coolant. Did a 30-130mph pull and sure enough, coolant everywhere.

Anyways, talking with my engine builder, he said he wouldn't be hesitant at all to oring the heads, so I'm going to do what Kyle did and have the heads done with new ARP studs. I'll have them freshened up as well. I'm thinking Wednesday I'll pull the heads and Thursday take them to the machinist.

Mike are you still running plain ole arp studs? Or do you have the higher end ones?

Ive had zero issues so far. Tripples make somewhere around 85#'s but my drive is about the same where he twins had drive way up

I honestly haven't even bothered to check my drive pressure. Probably what has killed the head gaskets again. But, after the heads are done, I'll actually add the gates to my setup to keep everything in check.

Mike, if you want to sell the old studs from your engine let me know. I'm sure they will be fine for what I'm going to do.

Dont you o-ring the block on a Duramax cause the aluminum head moves to much?
