IMO the 625's should be plenty.

I took my regular ARP's out and put the stronger ATS H11 studs in. I got worried about my ARP's not holding....

14mm is deff the premo set up though

12mm ARP-2000 material head studs: Torque to 125 ftlbs.

12mm ARP-625 material head studs: Torque to 150 ftlbs.

SoCal 14mm Head studs: Torque to 190 ftlbs.

You obviously need to drill and tap the block, ream the heads, and alter the head gaskets.

I feel the overall stability of the larger OD fastener is much better.

Like chris said 90 psi on a cummins is alot of boost but not near as much as 90psi on a dmax

i understand that but before these 14mm studs all we had access to was standard ARP's, 625's and a few other brands. I was under the impression that 625's were the cat's meow... that is until now. My question is say for someone like Kelly that doesn't have his block at the machine shop ready to bore out the holes, why wouldn't 625's be a viable option?

Lots of people have run normal ARPs. Most have had very good luck with them. But not all. The only HG leaks I have had were normal ARP's, and yup I ran stock bolts up to 59PSIG without issue. Others have had the factory bolts blow HG's at 30psig.

I still run standard ARP's on my backup engine. Only the BV engine got 14mm.

My comments about the regular ARP's was more directed toward's Kelly's set of circumstances with existing uses. If I were building with that much boost in mind I would use the best on the market. The Duramax world is still in the early developing years and I think that a lot of things get blamed on items that may not be what is causing ythe failures. I'm not a expert and most of us here aren't either.

that will be a lot better then a h/g. did you seal them with anything(loctite, retaining compound, etc..) when you built the motor?

Glad to hear its not the gaskets Kelly. Other than the hold downs there isn't anything else that can fix that problem other than fabbing something that doesn't exist yet.
