I'm curious how many of you have blown a head gasket WITH arp studs I only had 18k miles on it since studs and new HG's seems odd.....especially since my mods are mild big mods are Danville 68 and a built trans.

Were the heads check and or milled flat when you pull them before installing the studs?

They were grade C and yea they were milled flat, atleast that's what I was told would be done. This was done by a local shop in PA before I joined the army a few years back. Like stated above I only had about 18k on it since...

I know man. The shop that did it closed recently so it's impossible to get info on what they did. They did this while I was at basic training 3 yrs ago, it was left up to my wife to deal with the shop, obviously being at basic I had know way of communicating with either one of them....

More then likely they used a crappy gasket or did not deck the heads. You should not have issues with your set up runnning plain arps.

I think you may be right. Is there anything printed on the gaskets I should look for find out what they are? If so I'll check them over when I get home

I would bet it was more Shady work from them. Good thing they closed their doors.

I don't know man, I know back in the day they were the best around I had a good relationship with Seth, he was a good dude and he is a vet as well. I haven't dealt with the shop since 2013 but I did here his old school guys moved on and he had a bunch of dirt bags working there

you shouldnt have blown a HG unless you have some very crappy tuning, heads werent checked and/or milled, or the torque was not properly done on the head studs.

The tuning is Danville that is tweaked to seat of pants, and I have been very happy with it. Hell I ran a 12.7 with a tune and built trans no lift pump and it was fairly clean as well. I'm leaning towards something ****y happened during the install because like you said I just don't see how I could have lost a HG if it were done right

I would be leaning more towards a cracked head with how the last picture looks. That cylinder was seeing lots of water ingestion. Head gaskets don't typically leak water in the combustion chamber on a duramax.

Either way you need to get those heads to a good machine shop and have them checked over, and then worked over thoroughly.
