So
i have a coolant problom:(

in the morning, i start my truck it will not get up to normal op temp
i logged it with EFI to verify thats it is not the gauge

im loosing about 1/2 litre of coolant every 2-3 weeks

when i shut off the truck and check the uppper rad hose it is not stiff

when i first start the truck in the morning NO BUBBLES in the coolant tank

cap seems to be working

i changed both thermostats....no change

small amount of white smoke at the exhaust after start up and still after 15 minutes of driving but very small amount

exhaust burns the eyes

did a bottle test on the coolant tank NO coolant, but i also keep some paper towel in there for checking my oil and its a little pinkish

i have searched the entire coolant system for leaks and came up with nothing...not to say i didnt miss something

so anyone want to wager if this is head gaskets going?

its annoying that i wont warm up its getting cold out now and there is frost on the windshield in the mornings

WHAT TO DO?

You say the coolant system is NOT pressurizing? Besides the coolant loss that is one of the signs of gasket failure.

I think it not warming up is unrelated. Is it possible that you didn't really pay much attention to it in the past. I know that unless I'm really working my truck in our mild winter weather that it has a tough time getting to and maintaining OT.

With out it getting to OT is may be difficult to tell the difference between cylinder pressure in the cooling system or just normal thermal expansion...:dontknow:

And on a side note, it is like 105 here still...frost on the windshield:rolleyes:

no bubbles in the tank when its first started, not pressurized after it has been shut off

Sounds like headgasket to me. Thats how I really knew mine was done. At first it would just use a little water. Then I noticed that it would not warm up like it should. I thought it was a thermostat sticking open, but the water dissappearing threw me for a loop. The longer I drove it (like 2 months) the less warm my truck would get. My water level would only go down so far though, and then it would be fine. It would stay just to the bottom of the resivor. Merchant is the one who told me to run with my cap loose and see if it made a difference and it did not......A looong rebuild later it WAS my headgasket.

Silver 05 Dmax CC LB. Full load . Lady Driven, never been rolled, occasional oilfield use, occasionally used to tow, small dent in box but in otherwise xcellent condition. Open to offers..... or will trade for good horse and case of Don Julio!!

I should have jumped on that lly I saw on ebay for 15k. Damn!!

How long you gonna have to limp it for? Ted or Trevor probly have rad pressure testers to confirm it isn't going somewhere else.

thanks for the info, as soon as i get home im going to tear the heads off
and check it out...that should be a fun job

Sounds very familar, how much boost were you getting with the HTT? When you open the coolant cap, no matter what, is it pressurized?
anywhere fom 0 to 40ish, i really do like this turbo:D it just depends what tune i am running

may sound funny but ck the trans fluid too-ive seen lots of rad trans coolers leak and coolant will go into trans
that would be alot better than the headgaskets!

Simon, I think we need to start a new Forum titled UN-Installation tips and tricks--Just for you!!

I'm sure your dash screws and PPE CP3 would agree with me!!
