After pulling the motor a few times already I pretty much got it down to a small chore;) With that said I personally would pull the motor and do studs and gaskets at the same time and slap it back in the truck in a day:) Even if it takes a weekend its not worth getting rid of a truck you enjoy/like IMO..

X2 , we pull the engine on every head gasket job we do , even if it isn't faster it seems like we can a much better job and have never had a come back or single leak . I say fix it your self as long as you have decent mechanical ability's and have the patients to do it with out taking short cuts .

but is it that much easier to yank it out of a daily driver? race truck seems to be a little easier i would think bc there might be less stuff in the engien compartment. but idk, its goin down this weekend for sure. the disassembly begins. i ordered the gaskets and down pipe today. hope to have the studs on order tomorrow!!! wish me luck

I did mine in the vehicle. I don't think I would pull the engine if I had to do it again, definitely wouldn't lift the cab! Especially with my sub wiring and gauges to deal with. We had both heads off in 5 hours and it was running in around 10 hours of actual work once the heads got done.....

I can pull a cab in less than 1.5 hours by myself. I prefer to be able to see every inch of the motor and all surrounding systems. To each his own.

i dont really have a good way to pull the cab. but i have pretty much decided that the motor should come out just so that i know the surfaces are clean and everythign goes back together like it should.
