Help: Head Dowels

Ok so I need two new head dowels. One was pretty corroded and the other one broke. I called the dealer and ordered some, which where wrong. Seems Im not the only one having a problem getting the right ones. The ones they've given me are too big. Merchant said they have been having trouble getting the right ones and they did it to ripmf666 also. Does anyone know a good part number of happen to have 2-4 of them laying around?

I lost a one for the head and another on the backside of the rockers...

Go see the local cylinder head rebuilder he should/prolly has a misc box filled with them, takes time searching but he has one somewhere.

Oh, best of all... there prolly FREE.

I'm beginning to think that if it wasn't for part numbers my dealer wouldn't be able to tell a fan belt from a wheel bearing. Thanks everyone for the help. Glad to see I'm not the only one on here this early.

Dowel Pins

If its just a steel dowel locating pin these can be purchased at any machine tool supply house in various lengths and diameters. Diameters will usually be by .001" in common size ranges. They are used in punch press dies and manufacturing jigs. Check: http://www.mcmaster.com/#dowel-pins/=1r8910 or http://www.mcmaster.com/#metric-dowel-pins/=1r89kc for metric dowel pins. Example is 10mm dowel pins in various lengths are less than $12.00 for a pack of 5.

Are the head dowel pins the same size as the rear cover ones? Are they interchangeable?

What are the size supposed to be if not? Maybe a bolt supply store can hook a guy up if we knew the size.

Good luck I still have not gotten a number for these.I have a extra one I could measure.The ones that we use in are heads kinda look like the ones on the rear main,its not solid it can spring close some,They try giving you solid ones that are way to big.

I just had some extras lying around.
I'm waiting for my dealer to call me back.
