Time for a new challenge. It looks like I'll be hauling fifth wheel campers from Indiana to Quebec very soon. I have 3 stock height LB7's, 2 of them Duallys and my lifted LMM. It's a 6" lift with 35's. Do any of you guys have experience towing a fifth wheel with a lifted truck? Is it even possible?

it's not how you wanna do it fer sure and some campers don't have the deck height to even clear a lifted trucks bed. when I was looking into owning a dedicated to my rig 5th wheel, the dealer said they offer spacers to place between the frame and body to get a couple inches to clear a lifted bed, that and they can try tucking some taller tires...sometimes.

I'm curious to see what you find out, I got kinda lucky cuz my truck only sits about 2" taller than a stock truck and that turned out to be within a tolerable spectrum :D
never bought one tho:eek:
:roflmao:

Unless the fifth wheel is lifted it wont happen. A slider will help for sure but even then the bed will want to smack the trailer.

6" is pushing it with a 5er, 4" is doable. Can you drop your torsions in the front and temporarily install 2-3" blocks in the rear for towing?

not trying to be over analytical here Russ, but did you mean UN-install the 2-3" block in the rear:confused:

The transporting companies want the 5th wheel plate to be within a specific height range. Just have to find that out and modify your truck accordingly.

Um, James (Chevy1925) has a lifted truck and hauls a 5th wheel I believe. Hopefully he'll chime in with some insight.

not yet. when my truck did haul a 5th wheel, it was stock height. i have 4" of lift in the rear plus where ever 37s land me but the trailers im looking at are not low ground clearance. They will handle my lift no issue (buddy has a 6" lifted dodge and hauls the trailer im after without issue). We did haul a 35ft 95 alfa trailer 5th with my parents old 98 cc/lb with a 4" lift and also a 2002 weekend worrier 40ft 5th. neither had the axles flipped nor was the trailer overly close to the bed.

i see guys with 6" lifted trucks towing 5ths all the time but the trailer that are low ground clearance generally have the axles flipped. Seems like toy haulers get away with this more, not sure if thats a specific reason or if its just cause where i travel most guys have toys they are hauling.

OP, got a pic of the trailer?

Like said already it depends on the trailer. I have done it with a number of different trailers when my truck was lifted. Some didn't fit though. I had a smaller set of tires that I put on when it was a smaller trailer and I was just able to fit.

Since you're towing other people's 5th wheel trailers, you probably won't know whether they've been modified to be towed with a lifted TV. Towing a tandem axle trailer at anything other than level is asking for trouble. Towing front high can create handling issues and excess wear on the rearmost tires and suspension on the trailer. Only way I would tow with a lifted truck is if the 5th wheel height is adjusted for the truck.

it is possible to tow with a lifted truck. but since you have 3 different trucks id use the stock height dually with some air bags in the back. nothing fancy just the ones u can use an air chuck to fill. I have an 03 2500 4" lift with bags and tow a 40' 5th wheel toy hauler no flipped axles just fine. but i had to move the 5th wheel arm on the trailer to gain more height over my bed rails. so if you are doing it for a company i would stay stock ride height so u can tow pretty much anything you need. a slider 5th is a good thing to. like the B&W companion. thats what i have .
