So a while back I decided that I want a Cadillac CTSV Wagon as my new daily. I also wanted to update my hunting rig an 88 gmc 1ton single wheel with a BB.
So I decided I needed to sell the 88 and my dually to help offset the cost and I would take my time looking because I didnt want to spend much money on a hunting rig and the wagons are few and far in between especially in utah in fact I've never seen a ctsv wagon in utah on the road or for sale. Not to mention there expensive for being used.
Well the 88 has been sold and I'm in the process of putting back together an lly motor for an 05 that I scored and once its running ill sell the dually. So I'm getting close and am becoming more serious in my looking for the car.
So I find a black cts 4 wagon with the 3.6 and awd with all the options I'm looking for about 20 min away. My first glance is a no cause I want the super charged v8. But then I start thinking maybe this might be a better option for a daily driver and I'd be able to drive it in the snow and being it's not a ctsv it's way cheaper.
Again no it's not what I want. But then I get a brilliant idea. By the cheaper wagon and also by a ctsv sedan and still be money ahead. So I find a sedan I want to look at also. Both cars are at dealerships.
So I call on the wagon and tell them I'm coming down sto they can have it ready for me when I get there. When I show up I'm looking at it before I go in and the body is in amazing condition and the interior looks amazing so I stroll in and they grab the keys and we walk out. Hope in the car and dude tells me the battery is dead which is weird cause he unlocked the doors and the back hatch opens. He runs in to get help in in the car and see that the dash says key fob not recognized. Tell the sales man and they try for 30 min to get it to work and I end up leaving without starting or driving the car cause I got tired of standing around in the 26 deg weather.
I call another dealership that has a beautiful sedan on my way out that's an hr in the opposite direction and they will have it ready and waiting for me. Get there and talk to the salesman and get the dog and pony show then go check out the car. Guy pops the trunk and there two jugs of antifreeze sitting there (red flag for me)and dude assures me that the car has been well inspected and there is no problems with the car.
Take it for a drive and the car rips pretty well and rides awsome and I like it. Pull back up to the dealership get out and I can now smell antifreeze coming from the engine compartment. :doh::doh:
Guy says what you think and I tell him after seeing two jugs of antifreeze in the truck and now being able to smell it im good and left. I then spent the ride home explaining to the girl why I wont by the car from the nice and very informative sales man. Lol
So I continue my search and I will say it's amazing how many of these cadies have salvaged titles. I think I've found more with salvage titles than without.
