I recently bought a 2004 lb7 4x4. The thing runs great after it starts. When I bought it, It would just crank and crank whether it was hot or cold. And never start on its own. The truck has an airdog 2 165 on it. (not sure how old it is) It was not acting like it had consistant flow and had a little whining sound like air coming by one of the lines maybe. I pulled the lines off, put new thread sealant on fittings and put them back in and put a new set of filters on it. The truck started right up for a week with no problems. Then out of no where it starts starting dumb again. It actually starts on its own now whether its cold in the morning or hot after you get done driving it. And ALWAYS starts now. But it has an extended crank (about 5 seconds). It sounds like when it cranks it has to build pressure up then fires. Once the thing fires up though, there is no problems and it runs amazing. The truck just had injectors put in at the dealer along with a cp3 and regulator about 2000 miles ago by the previous owner. I have the receipts. I smelled the oil and there is not even a hint of fuel in it and the level is right where it was when I changed it.
When the airdog is running now its almost making the same noise it was before. I can lay under the truck and wiggle the lines a little bit where they quick connect at the pump and the sound will change when i wiggle the return line. Buttt, i dont think the return line sucking air would affect start up. Another thing is, its VERY hard to put fuel in the truck. whether i use a big or little nozzle it doesnt matter it comes back at me very fast and literally takes like 20 minutes to put $60 of fuel in. Iv checked all the factory supply lines and there is no kinks, not even where the metal hose goes to braided on the frame. I Also deleted the factory fuel filter head on it thinking maybe it was sucking air. If anyone can help any info is appreciated!
