I too have a problem with hard shifts, my tranny shifted so hard- it cracked the trans housing where it connect to the transfer case, and I lost reverse from fuild loss. when i would come to a stop sign it would delay shifting into first for about two or three seconds after a complete stop and then it would slam into first. felt like a nurtal drop. I went and got another trans from local auto recycler, put it in, and it shifts the same as my old tranny??? I don't want to loose another tranny. So i dont think the trans is the problem. any suggestions? TIA

Would a MA t-case brace help this? Mine shifts pretty hard at WOT from 3-4, and the rearend has close to an 1/8th inch of play, I haven't had time to put the new carrier and gears in yet.

not if the joints are loose, it will keep the parts from scattering as far though

nothing loose. I thought it might be a computer problem as the trans I replaced with was doing the same thing as the trans I blew up. It dosen't make any sense, the only thing that makes any sense, is the fact if I don't figure out the problem, I'm going to blow up another tranny:mad:

yes you will, if you have the ability you might try swapping in a known good(stock) TCM.

maybe the rcmp or the wire harness is shorting between some of the wires engaging more selenite than it should. did you use the same Neutral Safety Back Up switch for both transmissions?
