:(i feel for you brother im in the same boat right now! Its been 4 months i have been without my truck. The guy (obviously not a diesel mechanic) re used the head bolts. Ran it for about a month and kept adding coolant, could find a leak but could smell through the exhaust then she hydrolocked on me. When i pulled the glow plug coolant shot out big time. When i cranked the engine it shot about 12 feet from the truck!
Hope everything works out man!

Similar problem

Ok boys I'm on the same boat. I had the same symptoms as you but I had an extended warranty on my truck so I took it to GM to get fixed. They went through everything except the head gaskets. They said that the problem was the injector cups. It fixed the problem for about 8 months (until the warranty ran out) and then started back up again. They wanted to charge me after that. I went to a cheaper mechanic who also thought it was injector cups and pulled them and noticed alot of blow by and fixed them for about $1200. Now it is doing it again and they told me to go to a diesel specialist. I went to a specialist and they thought the second guys just slapped them in and didn't give it the 24 hrs of cure time for the locktite to settle. All was fine and dandy and everything seem to be working like it should until I hooked onto my boat and towed it. It puked coolant out just like the old days.

Now you may be thinking it has to be the head gaskets. We have checked the system for all head gasket symptoms and nothing checks out. We presurized the system and checked for exhaust gasses and nothing found. We changed out the thermostast and injectors with oem parts. Checked the turbo for leaks.

Any other possibilities? My next thing is the head gaskets I guess.

How much should it cost in parts to do head gaskets? What does a set of ARP studs cost? Any help would be appreciated.
