my cooling system has had pressure built up in the overflow and all the hoses.

checked my oil and there appears to be no water in there, but there's small metal bits in there like flakes of rust (that same color) in the oil.

No funny or smelly exhaust smoke so far. i pulled my glow plugs and al look good except for the ones in the back of the engine #7,8,5. One of them is covered in oil, another looks like its slowly corroding with some oily residue on it. and another has light oil on it.

im hoping its a cup, but not liking the looks of it. any insight or other suggestions on what to test or look for is appreciated.

Relieve the pressure for now check coolant level
then press up with air and leave it overnight,If your plugs are still out crank over truck with them out and check for coolant

You may have cracked a cup but I doubt it:( Sounds like head gaskets

i left the cooling system pressurized over night to check the cylinders when i pulled the plugs, im about to do that now.

Every time i relieve the pressure in the system the coolant level goes back high enough to turn off the low coolant light

but just about everyday im adding coolant.

Sounds like you have a fair bit of pressure in there:( You are probably burning the coolant

nothing came out when i turned the engine over as far as i can tell, i put rags over the holes to catch anything that came out and saw nothing.

noticed that the coolant is more or a brownish color than orange, ima flush it out and change the oil to see if it gets contaminated on my commute tomorrow

thats sucks man, ive got the same problem. but mines not using any yet it just holds a lot of pressure and when i let it out of the cap the level comes right back up. weird as hell. if your coolant is turning colors you probably hav exhaust coming into it(headgasket). i dont know what the hell is going on but it seems like there are a awful lot of hg's here latelty

im hopin its just a cup, i did have one pop out on me when i swapped injectors

How high did you pressure up the coolant sys?

When you put the cup back in did you clean it? And i mean really clean it?
Did you use the red loctite? I found that the gel works the best?
My cups are NOT coming out of the heads ever:D

Its a tough call to weather to change the cup or go the extra bit and swapp the gaskets.....It would suck to fix the cup and then it still leak:(Been there

i replaced my injectors 2 months ago to only have them fail on me 5 days later :spit:

i cleaned that cup very good(the #1 was the only one that came out), i did reuse the o rings though :dontknow:. i used the gel loctite on the bottom of the cup and petro jelly on the rings and knocked it back in. and was fine, no leaks or hard had hose when i ran them first set of injectors for those 5 days.

replaced them again and cooling system was still fine till just about a few days ago when things started to get iffy.

got a compression tester today, gonna test it when the truck cools off.

havent pressured up the cooling system i need to pick up some fitings to hook up a air hose to it, or maybe do it the mexican style and shove the rubber end of the air blower in the bleed on the thermostat and see if anything leaks

mine were all between 345 & 375 Gm specs says anything below 300psi or 50 psi difference between cylinders is out of spec.

I had soot in the coolant tank
