I just received an email about the cabin filter kits and just dont know what to make of it, or even how to reply to it. Im leaning toward it being spam, but have no idea how to check. I have a return email addy for the sender, too, in case someone can help me with that.

We are a company in Sweden that deliver Chevrolet Silverado to be converted to Ambulances.
The company that build the ambulances in Sweden are just now finishing some units that will be used by the Swedish army.
The vehicles will occasionally be used in Afghanistan and will need some kind of cabinfilter.
My understanding is that your solution might work.
We are building these units on 2009 and 2010 model year units.
I found you at e-bay when I was looking for a supplier.
Can you please send me some more information about your product?
We need this urgently, we have been searching now for a long time.

Best Regards
Per-Olov Ogeborn

The kits were just something to do to help others out, and I dont make much money at it. If this email is serious, what the heck do I do?

Any advice is appreciated.

hmm... I'd lean toward spam as well...but you never know I guess...only real problem I see is them bombing your inbox with junk mail but I'm no computer whiz...

Respond to the e-mail and tell them you would like to help but want more information about the company in Sweden (like a company name and/or address). If they can provide this, check it out on the internet. If it's ligit, then you can decide if you want to help or not. If they can't provide the company name or it's not ligit, run away from this one then. Good luck and let us know how it turns out.

dont respond with your email addy, use another.
It's not typical broken english like most spam but the whole thing seems a bit shifty to me.

Use a google or hotmail account. Don't reply with your normal email or is it too late since he emailed you there already?

NO NO NO I almost got nailed just like this. A company wanted me to send them 10 Tachs from Chrysler @ $357 a pop-I thought I was about to make a great deal because my cost was less then $250 the more I followed up with them the more excited i got, then they sent me a credit card by email-number and everything, checked it and it belonged to someone in New Jersey. The bank and UPS and FedX all told me when the products hit the customs of the said country they are history and I get charged back in my account plus a $50 fee for unknowingly using a stolen credit card. Be very careful.

Thanks guys. I appreciate the advice. I'll treat it as a scam and ignore it.

It sure had me worried, though. I was thinking, "Im just a simple guy, how the heck would I supply these?"

If it was legit, you could do it. I know it! :thumb:

If he's willing to provide reliable information and pay in some secure way, then I'd probably look into it. Just be sure to cover your tracks. Like was mentioned, it doesn't mention money or using cousins uncle boyfriend brother neighbor to transfer goods or $ and doesn't have broken english. All of which are pretty typical of a scam. If it were me, I'd at least try to see if it were legit and then tread lightly to see how it progresses. That's just me though. I might be gullible?

I agree with Mitch , i would proceed with caution but by no means dismiss it , if it was legit it could mean some extra money for sure and believe you could do it Tom !

Tell him you can send the parts, you need him to set everything up through customs, pay for all shipping, pre-pay for all parts and you want an international wire transfer into your account.

Set up a savings account in a Bank that is not your regular bank, when the money hits withdraw it and close the account immediately, then send the parts.

That is how I would handle it.

;)

I only make ~$5/kit, so theres really no money in it. I just make the kits up for something to do.

I'll leave it lie for now. If the person emails me again, then I'll look into it. Thanks again for the advice.

My question is; if they are so interested, why didn't they buy one from EBay and test it to see if it suits their needs?
