Have a 08 6.4 ford torn down for blown HG. The guy just got the truck from a dealer and it had the EGR turned off and no DPF on the truck. After messing around for 5 weeks (various reasons) I got the heads sent off to be tested/shaved etc. The truck has "110K" miles on it so I never really looked around for excessive wear, more for damage from the programer that the guy got the truck with.
The shop called me and said the heads looked like they had over 200K miles on them, the valve steams and guides were out of specs from wear. Today was the first chance I had to go out and really look the lower over, and the rear cylinders have no hone marks at all, the front 6 have light hone marks but near the top almost none. I don't see any star patterns on the pistons, nor any sort of erosion/ anything strange on the pistons. I was going to measure the bore, but both my calipers have dead batteries from the cold so not today.
I will get some pictures posted up, but what mileage would you guys guess was on this truck? If it was run hard I could see it wearing the hone off quicker(esp the back 2 cylinders) but with no damage to the pistons I think this truck might have falsified mileage and might have a case to make the shady ass dealer help with the bill (who sold it to him as is with the blown HG without telling him)
