Been 4 years since I last posted. This was at a time that I was moving from CA to Wyoming, and was looking at trucks to buy. I ended up getting a Dodge Cummins, since I could not find a Dmax I could afford. Well the tables have turned, and I am now on my 3rd Dodge, and looking again at a Dmax :D

Soooo,
Possibly going to pull the plug on an 07 Chevy HD 2500 Classic tomorrow. Anything I need to look at specifically with these models?

It is at a dealership in MT. Truck has 175,000 on it. Light silver with grey cloth. Truck looks pretty clean.
Can't run the VIN here, since I don't have enough activity on the site, but they offered the free "AutoCheck" from the dealer. Shows no accidents, and 2 owners. Most of the servicing looks to have been done by a dealer. Originally purchased in Indiana, but was only there for 6 months before spending the next 6 1/2 years in Montana.
Should I also pull a CarFax report?
Any specific items I need to look at?
Looks to be stock and unmodified. Does have the brackets for a fifth wheel hitch, but not a gooseneck. Not lifted. Still has stock wheels, and a nice deer killer bumper

VIN# 1GCHK23D37F148688

TIA for all your help/advice

Why are you going to pull the plug? You don't want it to keep on trucking?

Lol.. JK..

Looks like a nice rigg, mileage is nothing to worry about as long as its clean and has good service records...

Yup finally stepping up to the good truck. Always been a GM guy.
Have had 3 Dodge Cummins in the last 4 years.. Engines are good, but the rest of the truck is a POS.
The 3500 Dually I have now has 4:10 gears, which suck with the Cumins that red lines at 3000 RPM. At 70 it's spinning 2500.. no bueno

Tcase Pump rub maybe I don't recall then they switch to the Ali. housing. Any ways the pump in the case rocks back and forth until it wears a hole in the top of the case. It's hard to see until you've lost all the fluid and grenade the case.
That's the only real issue not related to performance.

Sent from my iPhone digging a ditch near you.

I believe they changed the transfer case in the 2007 new body style trucks. The Classic probably has the old transfer case.

And it is not my experience that it is hard to see you have pump rub. When mine finally got a pinhole, it puked out about 10% of the fluid, and when I stopped next (200 miles later) the tailgate was just covered in oil and dirt. A little oil goes a long ways.

I still haven't fixed mine. I slapped some epoxy over the hole, topped off the fluid, and drove it another 10,000 miles. When my trans was built, I had MikeL put the pump rub fix in, but I didn't buy a new case. So here I am, some 30k miles later, with a bunch of epoxy on the outside of my transfer case :spit: (but it still doesn't leak)

So, anyway, the point is: put the pump rub fix in BEFORE it wears out the case, and you won't have to worry about it.

Picked it up today. Man what a nice running truck. It's got some power compared the 12 valve Cummins I have now. Really impressed with the fuel mileage coming home. I never got below 70 (except going through the small towns) and I hand calculated the mileage at 19!!! That is pretty damn good for 2 lane black top driving doing 75/80. :thumb:
