Used the search button, but figured I'd just start a new thread. Wondering if I would gain anything going to a GTX 4202R over my 4202? Mainly street driving the truck these days, as closest track is 3 plus hours away. Not looking to just spend money, but I've been running this charger for 4 years and think there is more out there now than when I installed it with my motor build.

When I was looking at them to upgrade my small twins, the GTX flowed almost as much air as a standard GT4508... So I would say yes there is some gains but they are spendy.

The downside would be the extra cost and the difficulty ion rebuilding ball bearing vs journel bearing.
IMO there is a signifigant performance gain to be had

I've dynoed a few of these turbos and all seem to land in the 900-925hp at the tire range. Never done a back to back against the 4202r.

I was actually gonna give you a call. My buddie Dylan has delt with you alot. What about any upgrades on my 4202? Mine is not a roller, thats why I'm thinking this may be a good upgrade, the gtx 4202 that is, thoughts? Thanks

If you are wanting to stay in the 4202 then I guess I would try the gtx but until I see a side by side I can't give you an honest answer on it. My issue is the GTX wheels are nothing more than overgrown billet versions of a stock lly compressor wheel design. When you take LLy wheel out and replace it with the 3788R wheel which is the same exact size just GT design versus cast 11 blade/gtx design and they make more hp. Just my personal experiences here guys.

Not to thread jack.

Mark would a gt4202 with a 1.28a/r work in a compound set up over a stock lbz charger?
