man i have been say to run a smaller a/r with a waste gate for a while.

tuneing will onely help somuch. might be able to add little tiing and pulsewidth down low to help it out.... but thats about it then you are changeinf hard parts either R&P or turbine housing toget everything runnign inthe same power band.

bigger a/r tight converter tall tires make for a laggy conveter........on off throttle and low throttle conditins.......... weres simon at

i know dieselson was running 35" wiht 6" and ran a .85 housing to keep everything in check.

Why is that Adam?

I had a GT4088r with the 1.06 exhaust housing and Dual fuelers. The turbo is alittle laggy. the T-4 flanged bigger/housing is just going to be more laggy than the k-31 your buddy has....I ended up using my stock air intake pipe and flipping it around backwards. It worked perfectly for my air intake...I didnt even have to relocate the coolant outlet nipple or anything. I just plugged the hole for the 6.6L cover and installed a air filter on the end of the piping. Worked great. The most boost I could ever get out of that turbo was 40psi. Seems to be the limit.

You guys need to also understand that you need a good flowing high CFM air filter...With out a good air filter you are also choking how much air your feeding the turbo....I know thats kinda common sense but I always get stumped on the stupid stuff:DEric

Not a chance. The more timing weve backed out of these trucks the faster we've got them going. Track proven.

im not talking WOT here talking part throttle... been tallkign part thorttle the whole time. it were the truck spend 50-75% of its time at.

and yes it has.. flooding it with fuel doesnt help.... it will slow spool down actually theres a fine line there...

i went form spooling on stock @ 2000 to 1500-1600 by addin fuel and timing on the lower part.

of course you would from stock. were talking a hopped up tune though. most guys run ALOT of timing down low. thats where its hardest to make power. its easy to get way up in the charger and let it rip. a smaller a/r and a wastegate is just going to make for a turbo that is wrapped out all the time and doesnt have a very good operating range. i drive a truck with the same exact turbo everyday and have a decent feel for it and it takes some time to get it figured out its not nearly as forgiving as the stock unit.

your truck is not like kevins nor mine... the closes way to get your to have the affest is to drop 3.54 in it. or put 35s on it.

your truck has much shorter legs then either mine or kevins does. the 1.06 housing is bigger then the HTT housing. iirc. kevin has a tighter conveter then i do.. it is naturally harder for him to get up on a charger then i do... and even harder then a short legged truck.

3-4" tire dia = ~300rpm change... that is more then enough to drop a diesel engine under a turbo.

mechanicly kevins truck is running in a lower rpm window then your truck is. were a 1.06 housign works fine for your setup it doesnt for a truck with longer leggs. in were to get the same performance on a longer legged truck one would need a tighter a/r housing. shorter legg would need a looser housing.

I am curious of the same thing My GT4094R is way laggier than the HTT 66MM

I thought after the turbo I would be done but now I have opened up a different can of worms I am thinking different housing, uppipes and possibly a 1058 Conveter the only problem is no $$$

Once it does spool it pulls like a freight train

Deff think about doing the up-pipes. Ill take you for a ride in mine on Friday. My A5k lightes so frickin fast its amazing.
