What do some of you suspension folk think about gaining some ground clearance and suspension travel without buying a lift kit. Also why cant I flip my tie rod over so theyre flat if I have cranked bars? I know Id probably need an alignment and whatnot and know the CVs will still be at an angle but I have thought about this a long time and dont see why not as alot of lift kits do it. I hunt and fish alot and need the travel and ground clearance but dont want the stress on my front end of putting a lift on. Also is the cognito UCA kit really worth it and does it give you enough down travel to matter at all? Sorry for the rant. Just wondering on this and trying to get it done before hunting season.

I have though about removing the drop shackles on the rear for a free rear lift, dont have the balls to try it though.

The stock spindle is tapered to accept the tie rod from the bottom.

Most lift spindles come from the top

If your looking for ground clearance the only thing I can see heloing you without buying a lift would be bigger tires and the Cognito UCA so you can crank the torsion bars more without having more adverse effects on the suspension. Another thing is ive heard is you can get the alignment shop to set the toe so that if you do any 4wd launches it doesnt cause the tires to toe in. dont know if thats anything that would matter to you

Yeah mike have you watched a leaf spring cycle? Shackles aren't just there for fun. I have h2 takeoffs on it now. Does anyone have the cognito ucas and are they worth it like I asked in my first post

Would be nice to get a better " free" lift .

Cranking the bars and green keys are sure fire ways to break front end parts.

Just one of the drawbacks of our IFS is the pricey lift kit.

I'd love to get a 4'' TC but need to get back to work first.

You could throw a body lift on, just an option.

I've had them cranked for at least 50k of it's life and no failures yet. Just no launches. Truck is done drag racing while I'm in school

I think it would be better for the front end to put a lift on it rather than trying to crank the torsion bars. A 4" Cognito NTBD would be a good option, IMO.
