Allison 5sp: grinding noise

So my buddies 02 is doing some weird stuff it'll grind gears wont shift but if you let out of it then it shifts and will be fine for awhile then start doing it again and its all stock and dos it in all gears any thought is much appreciated

Whats the fluid look like? and the level?

fluid is fine could use a change but levels good not burnt

Only time ive heard grinding is when the transfer is not fully engaged

I would look at what is behind the trans (T case)

it does it in two wheel drive
this is just what I've been told I think they're going to hall it down to phoenix to a shop I'll update as soon as I hear thanks :thumb:
