Why you clogging my thread with your BS.

Buy a Manual you *****. Just cause you work for Cat and they think their auto should be in all of their semis because it says Cat doesn't mean you need to apply that thinking to everything.

I am kidding though, I keep thinking the whole Cat network would have some big chip on their shoulder, but they have been great to deal with on all of our Cats, I actually was looking at taking a job there too.,

With this whole Navistar fiasco it got me thinking, I think Cat is plotting their plan to buy out Navistar. Why else would a successful severly organized company partner with a struggling unorganized company and offer the C15 to them for little money only to have Navistar fail. I really think its a matter of time before Cat buys Navistar. They have the power and the money hell they bought a local mining company (Bucyrus) for nearly 9 billion.

Is there a way to disable the voice command with the VAG COM? My fiance has a 2012 TDI and I always bump that stupid button and have to listen to that lady for 2 min. its really annoying. Any plans to do any tuning? Malone or otherwise?

I don't know off hand. I hate that button too. Except she usually only says "sorry" like 3 times then cancel.

DPF delete and tuning is working out great. Lots of power.

All set up for winter now. Found some cheapish alloys for winter that kinda look like VW rims. Put some Michelin X - Ice Xi3 on it, gets around great other than the low ground clearance. Have a panzer plate to put on but haven't gotten a chance yet.

Didn't get a video yet. I'll try soon. It's straight through to the factory muffler. I only bought the downpipe and mid pipe for now. Hurt the wallet enough as it is haha. I'll add the last section later on. Hate to spend the money but at the same time I am never selling this car so the high quality is worth it. Not sure if I'll use Rawtek or Borla or something else.

It's really quiet now just tons of turbo noise. No drone inside really but you do hear a bit of the throatiness of the bigger open pipe. With the radio on you can't hear it though and at highway speed it's silent.

If it's too annoying when I replace the last section of pipe I'll add a resonator.

I will say the thing is surprisingly pukey. Like a cold LB7 is when you start it. Has a blue haze and noxious fumes. For the first few minutes of driving you can smell it inside a bit too. It's not too annoying but I'm sure if I would've put a high flow Cat on it would be less noticeable. It's nowhere near as bad as my 2000 ALH TDI is. This one is my wife's daily driver but she likes the diesel sound so well see what happens.

Pic of the exhausts side by side.

Poor pic of all three of our TDIs, my 2000, wife's 2010 and my sisters 06.

Looks like a nice piece, I read the install instructions and kinda looks like a pain in the butt, but I sure a lift, and a sweet toolbox helps a lot. Do you think you will still have to run the 507.00 oil?

It's not hard at all. Especially if you have worked on TDI's or other german cars and understand their way of thinking and how they put things together which seems complex up front but is actually extremely nice to work on because you do not run into the stupid "if they put this bolt .4" to the left I wouldn't have to remove 10 other things". It seems like they actually have mechanics as engineers. There is a certain way everything goes in and out and if you pay attention to that its very easy. There is actually a lot of room behind the motor to work.

Like most German cars you will need a good set of Torx sockets. The more torx stuff you have the better, I have tons of different screw drivers and sockets for torx but a basic good quality set of sockets will get you far. Make sure they are two piece sockets, the single piece break very easily. Torx is designed to break the socket before it strips which is why this is often the case. Its also why I like Torx so much, it doesn't strip. The people who have issues with Torx generally have poor tools, don't have the tool in straight or do not take the time to clean the dirt out of the heads first.

You will also need a good set of XZN sockets. Otherwise known as triple square. I have a cheap set from VIM tools. They are actually single piece sockets but I have not had any issues with them. XZN is Torx on steroids, you will not strip them out if using good tools properly. You really only need the one size though for removing the DPF and that is the size needed to remove the axle shaft.

Another thing German car makers like to do is use TTY fasteners everywhere. Most are just a quarter turn so you dont necessarily need a Torque angle gauge, you can just mark the bolt and watch it. You will need to replace these fasteners though. In the DPF removal you will need to replace the subframe bolts that you remove in order to gain enough clearance to get the DPF out.

Honestly, its not anymore work than removing a DPF on any of the big three pickups IMO.

You will not have to run 507.00 oil once the DPF is off. I still run Liqui-Moly 5w40 but use Delo 400LE 5w40 as well sometimes. We run Delo 400LE 15w40 and Delo 400XLE 10w30 in everything on the farm, very good oil. The synthetic 5w40 is a little over $20/gallon at Wal Mart which is half the price of the Liqui Moly.
