Got a job at Dodge!

I start work at the local Dodge dealership next week as a diesel tech, anybody work on rams for a living that can provide any insight? I've never messed with a 6.7 before.

Sounds like a pretty easy job to me. Tell them to trade it in on a Dmax. And if there's still doubt take them for a ride in yours. :D

Their emissions system is harder to diagnose than gm or Ford. Dodge doesn't give the option to see what the nox sensors are doing using witech. At least the best we can tell. We've only seen one of the newest body style Cummins so far. Most are under warranty still so we won't see them for another couple years.

Only thing I heard about Dodge is they Awhile back they revised their flat rate book, some almost to 1/2 the hours and I know of 3 guys that quit because they said they couldn't make decent money anymore.From what I can see the motor itself is pretty straight forward as far as diagnosis I am not sure.

The 6.7L will be a cake walk to work on. Most of the problems you will see are probably emissions components related. Maybe talk the shop into getting the Cummins Insite software if they don't already have it. And they should give you access to Quickserve.

Only advice I can give, is don't become a parts changer. It happens all the time with things under warranty, find out the root cause.

Definitely emission problems. I actually just bought a 2012 with 27k miles and it already had to go in for warranty the 1st week I had it for emissions bull shit

Basically all the 6.7s we've seen have been in for emissions. There's one 08 work truck we see with 410k plus miles. Never had the valve cover off. But it has had ac work, a few dpfs, and quite a few emissions related sensors.

Yea, might want to take an extra hour out of your day and run the overhead next time its in the shop.

You should never have a head gasket problem under stock power, something else is wrong. Those mls gaskets are picky, needs to be very clean and flat.

I'm a certified Cummins Marine mechanic. The marine 6.7's are still very new, but they've been good so far. We see a lot of QSB's, which is basically a 5.9 common rail which have been very good aside from problems with the marine components, specifically with the lift pump.

I'm not sure what you mean? The truck has not nor has it ever had gasket issues. It runs great and uses no coolant. I was saying all we've had to do has been emissions related with the exception of a worn out water pump that I forgot to mention.
