They sell you insurance to protect you from themselves, sounds like they operate the same way as the mofia. At least with the mofia they did actually get protection. If you payed them they held up to there end of the bargain and did'nt kill you. You buy insurance from UPS, they destroy your package and refuse to pay. The always claim it wasn't packed properly regardless of what you did.

its highway robbery i think we should all stop useing ups till they do somethign with there handeling system like i said earlier almost every package i recive from ups looks like it has been dropped down a flight of stairs and the packageing was great they even screw up wood crateing. this is not good buisness now woulod any of u buy twin kits or other parts from a company that had there parts looking like this?? so why should we use them for shipping i would rather use fed ex they handle there boxes with care. personnaly my local ups driver is awsome he puts my packages out of the rain well and delivers right at the door when no one home and when im outside working he bs's a lil its not his fault its the handleling and sorting crew

While I agree its a problem, why dont you guys call the cust service number and start making loud complaints to UPS management instead of venting it here where nothing will ever come of it? Change wont happen by itself.

BTW, Fed Ex is no better than UPS when it comes to damages.....

I hate to admit it fellas but I too am a driver for the big Brown. There is alot that you all don't get to see with the UPS system. The company is dead set on running solely on the premis of quantity instead of quality. It is always "Faster, Faster, Faster"! I do feel bad for the customers who receive damaged goods. I also try my best to help them out any way I can. I don't feel that if everybody just up and stopped using UPS and went to FED EX or USPS that the problem will be solved unfortunately. But I understand that you have to do what is necessary to get your packages in one piece. By no means am I standing up for the big Brown! Trust me I have many reasons to hate the place much more than most! I just wanted to say that not all the employees are hell bent to destroy your packages.:thumb:

I do agree with you. Both shipping companies focus on numbers. I can attest to this because I manage a load dock for FedEx. Alot of employees are good, but most of the damages come from the system used to get the packages through the buildings. I have a new turbo coming from Trent sometime and is coming through UPS, and yes I am scared about it...

USPS isn't much better. I just got a card from my daughter 2 days ago. I asked her about it because when I looked inside it seemed like it was from last year because of the dates on the pictures. The post date was fine. Turns out she had mailed it LAST YEAR. I know I live in Alaska, But DAMN!!!!

Like mentioned above it is all about moving quantity. UPS, FedEX, USPS all use conveyor belt systems to sort things and much of the human element is removed. It is during that process that things get destroyed/damaged etc. Most delivery guys are great and sure aren't out to destroy packages. They just want to do their jobs and get your packages delivered.

Lol Good luck. I had a buddy ship something and he had UPS pack it and everything by the book, They denyed his claim because they said it was improperly packaged (this was about 3-4 weeks after he filed the claim). When he told them they packaged it and they told him He would have to file a new claim with the ups store that packaged it, and then that store told him it was too late to make a claim, and nothing he could be done. He even paid UPS insurance on it :D

Th USPS get me every time I ship a package, they ask "anything fragile" and I tell them yes, and they say it could get damaged shipping, so I was what to do, they say nothing, there is a chance it could get damaged and best method would be to deliver myself WFT???

A "UPS Store" is not UPS. They just use the name, but they've extorted our company to the point where we cant get customer counters open anywhere unless its a "UPS Store" authorized outlet. Bunch of BS if you ask me.

The UPS Store, since it was the "shipper", has to file the claim with UPS. They were giving your friend the business about the claim, though. Since when did we have a time limit on claims? Not one that Ive ever heard about. If there was, it'd be longer than a couple weeks.

This is the kind of BS that drives me nuts.

I explained how dissatisfied I am with the insurance situation with UPS and how it never pays off for a damaged package. But I feel I should also mention how satisfied I am with the guys that deliver to my shop. I dont know if there supose to leave packages when no one is there to accept them but they do, which is a huge help to me. Sometimes I'm off on a service call when the driver comes by, he will hide the package under something outside and slip a note under my door letting me know where it is. Without this personal attention I get caught in jams. Fed Ex sends a different driver almost every time. The try to deliver at my shop during lunch when we are closed. I have to drive around town trying to hunt the truck down to get my my much needed parts.
