Well popped the trans off, had a hiccup with the flywheel as this setup is a brand new clutch setup from valair. Turning down a bolt and were gonna finish it up tomorrow. Dan pre surfaced the ceramic buttons for a quicker break in period. Might throw a few back road miles on this beast before I do a full launch. I'm pretty excited and curious because this is my first solid hub clutch. Not sure what to expect.

Cromoly is roughly double the cost, so if it was a 60$ difference, that's some expensive ass DOM :D

I think we paid 4.50 a foot, they sell a ton of it. Think it was 330 for the chromolly. Dom was like 260 270. We forgot the two inner kicker bars on the bottom of the main hoop so gotta go buy more.

Nope. All depends on wall thickness and metal yard. Being he went thinner chromoly and would have had to price thicker .134 and up DOM, I can see the price difference being minimal. DOM is also not much cheaper unless you are considering hrew "DOM" which isn't true DOM

X2. My cage would have been a lot more if chromoly.

Also chromoly is the same weight as Dom. Just chromoly allows you half the thickness with the same strength.

Yeah I'm all about saving that weight. Removed the stamped driveshaft guard, and all the heat shields from under the cab today. Maybe freed up 2 pounds lol

All I know is that my 7.50 cert cage in my half ton weighed the same as my 6 point bar DOM in my LB7 with a lot more jungle gym bars everywhere haha

That chromolly is some light stuff for sure I'm glad I paid the extra money. I want it under 5k without my fat a $$ in it with the cage.

It's a diesel truck cage who care's if it's dom, or chromoly the weight savings is minimal. The purpose is keeping you safe, and stiffening the truck up some.

I more so want the cage for if she sneaks out on the street lol. I'm sure it will help me out some stiffening up the frame. She gets kind of crazy off the line.
