Yes I have seen these covers. I got the first set. Dave Goerend is a friend of mine and one smart guy. I started him on this project and the plexiglass PTO covers are the ones I sent him. I told Dave what I observed and wanted him to play with this. Dave took it to the next level. I don't know what the price is on these covers but they will help. Bet the lights were dimming in St Lucas Ia with that 75 hp motor on his dyno. He had a 150 hp motor that cut the light out in town when he ran the dyno and the city forced him to tame it down. The city fathers threatened to pull his power pole when he resisted. :roflmao:

Very ingenious idea. But does that cover eliminate the need for your snake oiler?

Cool good to know Mike thanks. You would think they would just get a test mule D-max to drive those transmissions? Maybe more money and time to set it up than it would be worth.

So if I am already running a built trans without a "snake oiler" or these pto covers would it be worth the time to pull the trans and add these covers? What would be involved to put a snake oiler in? I have never even heard of the snake oiler so not sure what all would be involved to add it. Thanks again Mike.

I have heard of the oiler before but.never knew where it went I'm guessing the same place that the hole is drilled for this cover?

A little different - sprays oil that is tapped off main line pressure into the top rear PTO cover bolt holes, which go through the case into the same area to lube the C3 clutches. Instead of bleeding from main line pressure and working the pump any harder this is "re-using" fluid that would otherwise just drain into the pan. Awesome idea.

Does this cover has to be on a modified trans or can it work on a stock trans? So basically it will keep the trans temp at a cooler level and some added longetivity but it will not hold up on extra power correct because it does not raise line pressure. Correct me if I'm wrong.

So.it would.not.hurt a stock trans at all if anything it would.help the c3's live.longer. and no I don't think this will help with holding more power just more fluid to help oil the c3's

First - this could only be done while a transmission is out of the truck and completely disassembled as you will be drilling a hole from the area under the PTO cover into the C3 clutch area, so you would drill into your clutches and steels on an assembled transmission and leave aluminum shavings behind. IMO it would also be best to cut the external splines off the clutches (GMax) or steels (Stock or ATS or SC III, SC IV, PPE, etc. Alto's) that would go into the grooves in the case which are being fed oil. If you do all the work of removing your trans and tearing it down completely I think you would be a fool to not do a build or at least a few other modifications while you are in there; but other than that, yes this could be done to a stock trans. Mike's kit would be a much better choice if you want to put it on a stock trans or an already built trans, as it can be installed with the trans in the truck and requires no drilling or anything. Lack of C3 oil doesn't affect stock transmissions that are used for normal use as badly as it does trucks that are raced and have much more power and adding C3 oiling from this or Mike's kit won't help a trans hold more power - it will help C3 clutches last longer, especially on a truck that get's raced to where it uses C3's for 3rd, then off, then back on for 5th with no time to cool off in between. Also, neither one will keep the trans temps any cooler, they'll only keep the C3 clutches and steels more lubricated and a little cooler.

Its a longevity answer, because your build would last that much longer. I think its a great idea, and whether u have a stock trans or not .. like its been said.. it would just make it last a lot longer...you can never have too much lubrication on a part that needs as much lube as it can possibly get to get the most efficiency out of it.. not to mention lifespan. Id be game fora set when i build my trans here in the next month or so.:thumb:

I don't recommend this for a stock trans as you will need a higher pressure to run this kit. This is for a built trans only.

Im a newb to this kind of stuff so bare with me here.. lol.. this setup is not just a matter of gravity doing its job and having a spot machined into the cover to allow gravity to pull the fluid back to the hole where it will be fed into the C3's?

In the video it just looked as if it was the above statement, im assuming that the amount of fluid build up was by a higher pressure built unit as you stated correct? Where as the stock units would not have that kind of amount of fluid being forced around inside to allow these covers to work as they appear in the video?..

i have the pto cover on work great so far.. but i guess you dont know unless you were to pull it apart or it stops moving.... lol
