What are all the different goerend converters? I know about the G & R, but there seems to be wayyyy more goerend Allison converters than I remember seeing.

Yes, there are a lot.

Dave has a nice flow chart for the dodge guys to help select a converter based on truck mods and turbo setup. He said he was working on something similar for the Allison but idk where he's at with it...

As of right now, best to ask someone who knows them very well like Mike L or Dave himself.

The Goerend G is like the 1074, the R is like the 1078-Limitless and well those are the only ones I care about. Tony B. knows way more about them than I do. FWIW I have the G in my truck and it has been great but most would like the R better but I like mine tight!:thumb:

We had great results with the Q this past season. Comparable to a 1053-1 but should stall a tad higher. We ran a 53-1 year prior and they both have done perfect. Never really pushed the goerend harder to see if it would stall higher and it coupled just as well.

With my 3.42 gears and a second gear launch on slicks I usually leave the line around 3k rpms and 25-50psi boost depending on track quality but is pretty tight on normal everyday driving so it doesn't feel like you are wasting a bunch of energy doing nothing. For me personally in my truck this is the first converter that has lasted a full season without any issues and that's saying something as I have had my far share of stator failures because of how hard I am on them! I think to date I have broken 4 converters in my truck myself! :spit:

thats pretty bad mark! :roflmao:. i ran the ML precision before this and its couldnt couple worth a damn. just blew through the converter till lock up finally. When i was having issues with a broke ground wire last summer (didnt know it was a broke ground wire), i lost TC lock up half way to the camp site and 15k on the back. i had to REALLY get into the throttle to start blowing through the converter but it actually pulled really well. about a 3-400rpm difference from lock up on flat ground and about a 600rpm difference up rolling hills with moderate throttle. All at 55-60mph in 5th gear.

I have the LL after ruining 3 other converters from various companies that had stock stators and can't wait to see how it does with my big single.... Whenever I get it back on the road.

Anything you wanna share with the group? :D What speshul sawse is it runnin? ;)

We built the K for Verlon Southwick and Dustin at ATP. Very streetable and couples like crazy. Verlon has had great success with this converter as have a bunch of members here. I think every member here that used it ran mid 10's. Verlon tows with it.:D

I have no clue what version of Goerend converter is in my truck. We discussed a K but I didn't get it through Mike so I think I have something close to an R or K. Converter has made multiple ten second passes and lots of 6 second 1/8 mile passes along with 20k+ street miles with some light towing. I guess this doesn't help with which model to choose but it does say a lot about Dave's converter's reliability.
