my 2002 gmc sierra 2500 hd with a 6.6l v8 is acting up. I left it sitting all winter and spring while i was away and im having trouble starting it. I changed the batteries and oil, i think something may be up with the fuel, i got it started once but it is sitting in my driveway dead.

A friend showed me how to drain the fuel filter and i did that with the button and screw. It seems like it turns over really well but will not start. Im pretty sure its not getting any fuel but im not quite sure.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Pump the plunger until it firms up.

Fuel can go bad but I think it would still start just might not run very well.

How much fuel was left in it & are you in a cold climate?

ill try that in the morning, should i keep the screw closed and then pump it till it gets sorta hard or have the screw cracked?

about a half tank is in it right now, and yeah its kinda getting cold, and it was obviously cold last winter... nothing like -'s but more like below 30 to maybe 10f in the winter.

Crack the bleed screw and let the fuel run for a little bit, make sure it is good and clear no air bubbles before you carefully lock the screw back down, then pump till it firms up. What temp is it now & what time of year did you buy your fuel last?

You gotta pump the fuel filter while the screw is open a couple turns. Pump until fuel runs with no bubbles, tighten the screw, pump a few more times until you cant pump it anymore, then start. Also, change the filter asap.
