Would the snap on equivalent of the tech 2 take care of resetting the taps or does it have to be a tech 2?

When they do the quick learn does it wipeout your tune in the tcm?Do you have to pull the tune and then reinstall after the quick learn has been done?

What TCM OS are you running? If it is anything other than 15172881 then that is most likely your issue. There is a TSB out regarding the 2-1 downshift clunk and this is the OS to correct it(it is also the OS with OD/LO). I have it if you neeed it.
I don't believe that is the one I am running. I have an os out of an 05 so that I can run the OD/LO. I would appreciate if you would send me that one to try. PM sent.

I would like it also and have the same problem, never knew there was a fix for it pretty much just accepted it as another built tranny problem because I don't remember it being there stock.

01-early 02 had the issue pretty badly and GM came out mid year 02 with updated OS's to deal with the hard 2-1 downshift. All OS's after about 4-02 have the updated downshift software in them already. My trans has a few quirks with it as well, but I have found the updated 01 OS to shift the best of all of them as far as consistency goes. The later OS's do shift smoother by a little bit, but there adaptives drove me nuts as I tend to drive pretty easy for the most part, so everytime I would flog her a bit it would slush box the shifts on me. Went back to the 01 and she shifts much more consistently with repeatability in the shifts. Just wish the grade braking would actually work in it when you need it to instead of finally kicking in once you've gained 10 MPH going down a 9% grade on the brakes:mad:.

Yeah my downshifts are better, no more clunk after stopping. Engage seems slight smother after all. OD/LO work fine on the new tune. Now I just need to figure out my TCC lock up speed in 5th as I like it lower than stock but, I think I got it too low as now it will bark my turbo occasionally when it locks. thanks ferm:hug:

The only problems I have found with the 02 OS is that in T/H mode the 4-5 shifts are not marked correctly, and the 3-2 downshift will click sometimes(can't feel it in the truck, but with the windows down you can hear a click from the trans on a hot 3-2 downshift sometimes).

Thanks Mike, I'll have to get the efi out and start playing, unless someone knows of someone in Aus with a tech 2, lol. Anyone?

Is there a GM dealer in your area? Around here, you can get them to do a diagnostic with the Tech 2 for about $100.00 US.

I done your with efilive, but as mikeL said not the best.

Is it still shifting Funny?

Cheers Heath

Oh ok I didnt realise you reset the taps, I thought you didn't get time. No worries at all.

Only the odd weird shift here and there definitely not worried about it.

How much is a tech2 worth?
