GM Terminal Test Kit?

I have a P0571 DTC (cruise control brake switch circuit) that pops up along with my trailer brakes not working. I have the service info for troubleshooting this, but it recommends a GM terminal test kit.

From Kent-Moore it's around $300 or something I'd rather spend more time finding a dealer that wouldn't give me so much crap about aftermarket stuff than spend that on something I'll never use again.

Any Napa, etc. alternatives? Is it really necessary?

I can also do everything but the terminal testing I guess and rule all that out.

I have a set of leads for my meter that are like small spoons and go on the back side of connections to check them...... if nothing else a paper clip can be pushed into the back side and use an alligator clip on your meter
