GM injector cleaner results

So my balance rates haven't been the greatest for a little while now. Mainly #5 injector. So I figured I would do a DIY injector cleaning with the gm injector cleaner.

So I searched for the DIY thread and followed it. Pretty simple....

I will compare balance rates before and after, I'm actually already in the middle of the cleaning right now.

Here is what I did...poured the 16oz bottle of injector cleaner into a container and then added roughly half a gallon of diesel, then added maybe 4 table spoons of ATF just for the hell of it.

I'm not going to go into the details of exactly how to do it because there are plenty of threads already out there.





I'm just putting it to the test to see how well it actually works and if it's worth spending the $24 that the 16oz bottle of injector cleaner costs.



I also opened up DVT in efi live and set the rpm to 1000 for a portion of the cleanening. So far it's been idling for about 20 min and burned about 1/3 of the fuel/atf/cleaning solution.

Still in progress. Strapped the bottle to my mirror and slightly shut the hood then went for a little drive to bburn it up quicker. Got about 1/3 left to burn. It's quite surprising how freakin long half a gallon of fuel lasts

It takes a while at idle to burn even a gallon.

Been idling for an hour now and I took about a 2 mile drive. Probably have about 10 minutes left of run time.

I'm pretty happy with the results. #5 improved significantly. Overall it improved, some more than others.

#5 in drive was hovering between 3.6 and 3.9. Prior to the cleaning it was anywhere from 5.6-6.2.

I've got some driving to do tonight so tomorrow i will check them again tomorrow and see if they have improved anymore or went back to what they were before the cleaning.

Oh well, I will take the improvements I got and forget about the ones that got slightly worse. There all still plenty in spec so whatever.

i did this on mine with pretty good results. its been a while so i forgot excatly how good the results were, but i do remember my fpr went bad a couple weeks later. probably coincidence

Those balance rates look like "seasoned rods".... just a slight bend to get the weak spots out. lol

Did you notice any changes in idle quality or sound?

I don't know... i want to say it idles smoother but I'm sure it's the placebo affect.

This isn't gm injector cleaner but I ran seafoam in mine, it made the idle way quite.. Enough that it scares me it's so much more quite
