Just wondering how long this stuff takes to cure up enough to fill the motor with oil. Hoping to start this truck as soon as I get it in the truck. I'd usually wait about a day. Finally got the engine hoist out where I can use it and just need to bolt the rear adapter and lower pan on and its ready to install.

Yes. I'm hoping the time it takes to get the engine in the truck and everything else hooked up would be long enough to cure.

It's so tacky it doesn't take any time at all to cure, I sealed my pan, flipped it over and filled it with oil

I know I can fill it with oil, wondering if I should wait 24 hours before it gets oil pressure though. The gm black silicone I have here says it needs that long to fully cure but the grey kind doesn't say anything.

when i did headgaskets i used "the right stuff". put everything together and fired it rite up. no issuies

At the nissan dealership where I work, we use some grey stuff for the timing covers and oil pans. As soon as we are done, we start it up and send it out. Haven't had a single issue yet from any of them. And I see them come back all the time for their oil changes. No leaks. Should be safe for you as well.

i absolutely love 1194 liquid gasket this stuff never gave me a prob with anything ive ever used it on seals up pretty dam good and real easy to work with:thumb:

the GM grey stuff is good, i like using the oem stuff. we put on intake runnners, had problems the next day with the heads and had to remove them and it seemed like it was still tacky in the middle. I imagine you could run it as soon as you used the silicone with no problems but im with you on waiting a bit t let it cure.

I always use the right stuff. It says its ready to return to service in one minute. Never had an issue with leaks.

As for the GM stuff, I'd say your fine. The dealers aren't waiting long to return the vehicles. The assembly plant probably isn't waiting long between installing the stuff and hot testing.
