I’m not sure how many here watch the show Roadkill with former Hotrod Magazine editors David Freiburger and Mike Finnegan, but in their latest episode they ended up at Firebird Raceway in Eagle, ID. When the got their, they showed a few clips of some of the locals running down the drag strip. I’m pretty sure one of the locals was IdahoRob running his ‘55 Chevy gasser.

Yep, Rob won his class, Mike and David asked if they could get a pic with him in the winners circle. Pretty cool. I didn’t go out that night:mad

I'll tell you what guys racing these old gassers is a hoot, and you don't hold your breath every time you go down the track hoping you don't break it. I've got about 450 passes on my Falcon gasser without any major problems. But it still ain't cheap, but a hell of a lot cheaper than racing diesels and I'm only 5 miles from the track.;)

Moving this fall to Tucson area, will be back here in Central Oregon from June thru August. My car runs in the high 6's in the 1/8 mile around 100 mph. Best time in the 1/4 was 10.6 at 124mph.

Pretty sure Freiburger is still the editor in chief, not sure about Finnegan. Watched it last night and had no idea, good catch!

Ended up moving to Pahrump, NV sold the gasser to a guy in Idaho, he'll be racing it at Firebird in Boise. Bought a 1967 Chevy Nova, will be somewhat quicker than the Falcon but still slow enough I won't have to get a license or wear the total racing suit, (I hope). Will race it in Madras Or, (that is if we ever get past this virus scare) with a trip to Firebird for the oldies but goodies race, then back to Pahrump in the winter with a few trips to the Strip in Vegas.

Sounds like you have some personal experience there. The one next door, Sherrie's looks like a better place anyway. :thumb:

Wife’s grandparents lived there. When my wife was a kid, she spent the weekend out there with them. Her grandpa took them there for lunch and shirt. He thought it was the most hilarious thing when her parents picked them up and they had chicken ranch shirts on
