its only temporary:D

but i rigged up the drive pressure gauge tonight and took it for a spin

the steel line is gpoing to be permanent but the hose and gauge on the mirror is not

this is what i found out my race tune hit 70 psi @ 33 psi boost
it was basically double the whole time useally around the 60psi mark

the worst was @ 10 psi boost it would be @ 40ish hmm

i tried flipping to my DSP tow tune and it was basically the same excepth the top end at 23 psi boost i would be at 40ish BP

to my surprise the SS Tubing wasnt even warm after 30 miutes of hard driving
this is a good thing because now im not so worried about installing the 0-100psi sensor

here is some pics

once i get this done up with the sensor i will do a write up

Good Job... But me thinks you have been hanging around Pat too much  Reminds me of the time he had the boost gauge attached to the windshield wiper :D

No, that is where the fuel pressure gage is supposed to go :) (at least on the gasser's that I have played with)

You can laugh at yourself all you want but this is important info your getting. Nobody that I know of has done drive pressure testing on a stock LLY/LBZ turbo yet.

Hopefully, the info you gain will help us get more out of these turbos.

We measured drive pressure at PUSU in December 2005 ;)

I have a project going that focuses on it.

:cool2: do tell more

well its now installed in my gauge pod i got the 100psi electric fuel pressure gauge instead of hanging it out the window:D due to the fact that i only have a spot for 3 gauges in my truck i pulled out my 0-15 fuel gauge that i use for the lift pumps

so today i was driving around in stock format
i think there is more drive pressure from a stock tune than my race tune:eek:
max of 60psi but its well over double ALL the time close to tripple quite a bit and just off idle is like 5-7psi hard to tell with such a big gauge
anyways just thought i would let you guys know that im out of the ghetto:D

one thing i dont like is the braided hose that i used i am going to have to keep a eye on as this may start sawing through wires and brake lines if i dont keep a eye on it i wrapped it in wire loom but i still need to keep a close eye on it i already sawed through my AC line with my fuel gauge line from the filter good thing it was winter:)

:yup:

I have a tubing bender I will hook you up with when I get back. It will look a little neater with some nice stainless tubing!

It would be interesting to see #'s with a straight pipe!! Even just drop the muff for a test run.

Do the LBZ and LLY run the same turbo??
I would think they would be the same if so.
I am going to install a gauge in my LBZ and monitor this myself and compare with the LLY just for curiosity sake.

Not much though. The LBZ should have a little more back pressure. Let us know how it turns out.

I doubt you'll see any drop without a muffler.

I would like to see the LBZ vane tables versus the LLY vane tables drive pressures.

yes and you will;)

also i installed a 80hp tune in the truck i am addicted to horsepower:D
and if i drive at 100mph the drive pressure is way lower but i think you guys already knew that:cool:
