Anybody ever mess with tuning gas trucks using Efi? What all can be done and such? I know the gains won't be very extreme, maybe like 20 hp or so and possibly a mpg or 2. But my main question is what sensors can be tuned out? A buddy is giving me a 99 2500 gasser that has some major issues. Clogged cats, bad o2's, misfires etc. just wondering how useful efi is in finding and eliminating these problems. It's going to become a swamp buggy. Also got a couple other friends with gassers they want tuned for daily driving.

Basic stuff like PE enable earlier, get rid og the delay, PE AFR gets super fat up top,,you can lean that up a little in PE commanded fuel (smoothen), bump say 3* of timing on high and low spark tables (and smoothen), 75% decrease torque mngmnt and max out TQ limiters... bump shift pressures say 15% and rpms +300.. eliminate brake TQ MNGMNT and abuse limiters and there you have a basic tune. The mpg will be gained from mostly the timing.....26-.52 Grams/sec will be mostly the part throttle and cruising areas...

I'm not gas tuner by any means, but thatll get you started..:thumb:

Cool :thumb: I'm going to practice on the p.o.s. freebie truck when I have the time. Then maybe do a couple good ones.
