I have full coverage on all my vehicles through Safeco. Not worried about my LML or my wife's Yukon since they are 100% stock, but I asked Safeco about a Stated Value policy on my 1500 and was told they only do that for collector cars.

Private Party book value on my truck is only $4500 but it's worth a lot more than that with the swap and related parts. Do I just tell them I want to insure extra modifications or what? I thought I was SOL since they won't do a stated value policy but it sounds like there are other options...I want to do it right and make sure I'm covered, I have about $45k into it at this point.

you might have to call around and see what some places will do for you. I just explained what i have done and that the truck doesnt drive all that much (not listed as my primary) and how to cover all that. he just told me to list off the mods, send copies of the receipts in, and here is what im covered for.

I disclosed everything to my insurance co as far as all mods done, granted they want an appraisal when im done the build so the $70 for the appraisal is well worth it in my books. They also put it down as an occasional vehicle (summer use only)for only $75 month.Cant go wrong for the piece of mind.

Who are you insured through? Safeco will cover up to $5k over the book value of the vehicle, but no more than that.
