Are there physical differences between tanks, other than fuel pickup?

I found a transfer flow 45 Gal tank that's advertised for 04.5-06, and I'm wondering if it will bolt up to my 02. I know the pickups are different for LB7, but I'll be modifying that anyways for my liftpump.

I'm looking at part numbers between factory tanks and it looks like there's a split where one number is for 01-04 and another for 05-10

I'm debating whether the price is worth it to give it a shot anyways

Maybe give Transfer Flow a call and see what they say. They might even be able to set you up with the correct mounting hardware, if there is a difference.

Let us know what you find out too, I'm curious.

I called them they were very nice and they were more focused on telling me the way to tell 04.5 split from VIN and that fuel sending unit was different, but also mentioned dimensionally they are different.
They sounded like the guy knew his stuff, but he said the current tanks fit '04.5 to '10 LLY/LBZ/LMM

I don't want to believe that they changed under bed dimensions etc from 04 to 04.5 but then again I'm not an auto maker.

Mounting-wise, the tanks will be the same. The frames, 01-07, with the same body config are all the same.

I think the 04.5-up sending unit has a larger.different locking ring.
