3/20/11 Texas:

Our local pulling organization class wants our trucks to have a Fuel Shutoff:

"Trucks must have a break away fuel shut off located at the back of the truck."

and NADM requires 3.0 class:

All trucks must be equipped with a driver operated fuel shutoff capable of blocking fuel flow to the injection pump...a 3 way dump valve is recommended."

I would like to have both since I will be competing in both organizations.

Does anyone make a kit for this?

I am still very new to Sled Pulling and just not sure how to set this up...

Thanks for any help..I have a 2002 LB7.

If you are running EFILive, you can put a pull switch at the rear of the truck with a ring on it. Run a single ground wire up to your DSP2 switch. Make the DSP2 tune have zero fuel pressure.

The NADM allowed an EFILive switch last event I ran.

The dump valve is for p pumps incase they stick a plunger. The 3 way dump valve essentially blocks the flow from your lift pump and drains the fuel away from the injection pump and to the tank or atmosphere(preferably tank) there are very expensive ones out there and inexpensive ones. The one we have on our tractor is just simple a 3 way Ball valve. It has a hole in the end of the lever and we have a dump truck PTO cable run through that, we have dump truck cables for all of the shutoffs, 25 bucks each and they work nicely.

Just a few ideas incase they make you install one. even though a common rail shouldnt need one.

Ive never seen a rule anwhere for any organization requiring it to be sled operated. Sled only operates the air shutoff or electrical shutoff, its up to the driver to dump the fuel from the pump. Might want to mention that to the local powers.

Just curious, how does that work? How do they do that, especially an air shutoff, from the sled?

they hook up their cable to the tractor/trucks cable which when pulled releases the guillotine/butterfly which shuts off most of the air,

the sled has a starter motor on it that pulls the shutoff when the sled operator hits the switch, or if the tractor breaks away it automatically is pulled.

I appreciate all of the information. Does anyone have an electrical shut off on your truck? If so, would you tell me how you set yours up? Any pictures you can include would be great too. Thanks, Micah

What about a switch inline with the FICM fuse?

Both of these would work IMO.....

Another option would be using a solenoid inline, I would have it as close to the front as possible for faster shut down though.

Get creative there are lots of options:)
