I found this on the Cummins Forum wondering if any of you have tried modding it this way?

If you guys have access to a drill press I suggest doing it this way instead. With the dremel it is too easy to go too far. no to mention if you do slip once it's game over. Here with a small spotting drill and small carbide dremel burr I was able to drill 6 holes circumferentially around the cylinder where you'd normally grind it out. The area of the 6 holes is the same as what you'd plow out with the grinding wheel

Instead of doing it this way.

I modded mine with the dermal & a cutoff wheel. Drilling it is a good idea though. I smoked a junk one trying to hold the dermel in my hand & make a nice cut. For the good one I mounted the dermel in the vice and carefully held the sleeve, made 2 perfect cuts in the wide part of the triangle just like the pics above. I used some 2000 grit paper to sand out any burs. Best part is no change to the idle or drivability, have heard of people getting a lope at idle after this is done though.

That is true but some people would like to do it them selves and learn something while at it, you should try it at least once. ;)

Each to there own I guess. I like to know the inner workings of everything, so I can understand how it operates. Plus I roll on tight budget, truck can't take away from the family.
