Good morning ..... I have a 2005 Chevy duramax 2500hd diesel 6.6 and I've noticed lately it began rolling over longer before it starts, now it won't start at all... I loosen the screw in on the primer assembly and check but it doesn't have any fuel coming to it, only air when I pump the primer ball.... Do you have any idea what that can be? Does this truck have a pump In tank that sends fuel to the engine?

Ok I will try that again.... When I pumped it the first time I wasn't getting any fuel to it and I have a full tank of diesel

No there is not a pusher/lift pump on the duramax pickup. More than likely it's the fuel filter head needing rebuilt or replaced that should take care of your problem

Ok thank you..... Is it easier to rebuild or change completely? I'm not a mechanic but I work with my hands a little

It's easier to install a new one, but it's cheaper to rebuild it. It could also be a fuel filter or water in fuel sensor problem or a line somewhere causing a problem.

Don't go changing it if you don't know that's it for sure. There's a lot of places you can lose prime.

If it has the original fuel filter housing on it I would replace the whole thing gm#12642623 there about 120 bucks at the dealer comes complete with filter and all it will not be a waste of money 2 bolts hold it to the valve cover 2 hose hookups heater plug in water in fuel plug in wires. I would do that way before you payed someone to even look at it :thumb:

I drained the filter from the screw below and I got a lot of water coming out from the filter! I took the filter off and emptied it on the ground and a lot of water and jelly looking stuff came from the filter. Could my problem still be the primer assembly?

Yes I changed the filter before..... It had that same type of stuff in it. I never change the primer assembly

Change filter more often. I change mine every second oil change. Good insurance and always use delco filters unless you have a lift pump!

The ACDelco changed part numbers awhile back from the TP3012 to TP3018 along with internal changes, the Parker/Racor PFF50216 is a better choice. I ran 20,000 miles just short of 2 years when I replaced my filter.
