Fuel price / Hurricane rant

Well I dont want to offend anyone and to anyone that is on the gulf coast my best wishes are with you BUT why did fuel prices here in Canada go up 13 cents/litre today I understand that they could go up there due to the hurricane and shortages but here we dont rely on any US oil. I feel like I just got done right up the pooper

CNN just said that much of galveston will be under water within the next couple of hours I hope that anyone down there is out of harms way

haven't heard the price of fuel but some are saying theres GAS in the $5+/gal range here in KY already. That is insane when yesterday it was in the $3.7x range. Ridiculous!!

I guess it depends on the damage of the storm to see how far up and for how long the raised prices will stick around, but I still cant believe that it is affecting us in Canada. Theyre just screwing us over because we wont say anything about it

Its all a load of BS they say where still in iraq because of the oil. us gets alot of there oil over seas there is no reason for this stuff

Maybe I never noticed before, but has the price of fuel always sky rocketed everytime a storm rolls through the gulf?

Did this used to happen 10 years ago? Cause I never remember this happening in the past like it has since Katrina F'd everything up.

It all has to do with the refineries NOT where the oil comes from
If there refineries are damaged then it puts US and Canada into a shortage

Well, I've yet to see fuel or gas for more than $4.49/gal but I DID witness a rarity last night when filling up... Where I got fuel at, all grades of GAS were the same price (odd) @ $3.99/gal. and the diesel was actually cheaper than the gas. I bet it's been more than 5 years since I've seen that. I fueled up for $3.849/gal last night and if I had of had a fuel card, it would have been $3.819/gal. Like I said though, it's been a long time since I've seen fuel less than gas and that's a trend I'd LOVE to see come back around!!

they've been dropping price due to excess supply, stock tanks have been staying full by oil company reports, so come along storm and $$$.
anybody ever think oil companies buy advertising on network tv, news reports every bad sure to impact fuel prices, who doesn't think they(news) approaches oil co's to run commercials to help public image and make money off oil co's. what do they call it, WIN-WIN situation. think canada has refineries, so this should not effect them $ wise. friday price did drop below $100?

I have two Dmax's, filled them both up on Tues/Wed.

In CT we were at $4.43/gallon.....................before the storm............

I have a CC/26 gal and a RC/34 gal so between the two tanks I have 60 gallons so I am good for almost 1100 miles which will get me past the spike in prices I hope, should be 3-4 weeks before I need fuel I hope.

#2 heating oil is only $3.54/gal and I am having my 330/gal tank topped off on Monday..........

That will get me by if needed.

But the oil companies are worried about refinery damage or lack of refining capacity, so the specualtors bid up oil, so the station owners worry they will be short on gas so they gouge !!!!!

I filled up for 1.29/liter (5.02/gal) today after work. Gas went up to 1.30 for reg, and 1.50 for prem.

The thing that gets me is that the hurricane and refineries that were effected are in the US. Canada has our own oil and our own refineries. They just seem to think that were so stupid that we believe that the US shortages can effect us and then they raise our prices and we say nothing about it.

when oil prices first hit the $100 mark, diesel prices were at $3.00/gallon or so. Now oil is below that price and we're close to $4.00 -- :WTF2:

Prices sorta went back down yesterday here.....diesel is actually 8 cents a litre cheaper than gas now
