Fuel Operated Heater Help

I just purchased a 2007 GMC savana with a duramax in it. It has a Fuel Operated Heater in it and it is not working. After a ton of research on the web i figured out that under the hook fuse #2 is the power for the heater. I have 12 volts at the chassis connector from the ground to the red wire. if I jump the red wire (+12v) to the blue/green wire (metering pump) I can hear a click coming from the pump. I do not hear the pump running. I will check to see if I have fuel coming out of the hose tomorrow when the pump is powered. But for right now it seems like the pump is not pumping????? What/how else can I test the heater??? Can I "hot wire" it somehow????

If I'm not mistaken ticking sounds are all you'll here out of the pump, if there's a filter in the line I'd replace that first and make sure it's primed.

the webasto ones I've used would prime on their own eventually, it'll pump for a while and if the burner doesn't get fuel it'll throw a code. All I had to do was turn it off for a couple seconds and and restart it to clear it and it would try again. I haven't really had any problems with the espar I have now but I imagine they work the same way.

The one I did wasn't bad, it was in a semi so I probably had more room to work with. I knocked it out in an afternoon.

Well I have driven the truck for about two weeks now and it has not kicked in so I am guessing that is not the issue. I would like to take it apart but hate dealing with the coolant. If I take the electrical end apart will it start leaking coolant???thanks

That I'm not sure about,sorry I didn't realize you're talking about the coolant heater, mine is a bunk heater only but I think they use the same pumps.

most common problems I have found with these is that they would gum up with crap and would just need cleaned out and a new glow plug or spark plug. I cant remember which one they had.

This one has a glow plug and I will give that a try. I would really like it to work and I cant get it to do anything. I was out there for a bit tonight to try and get it running but no luck1
