I have a 2005 Silverado 2500 hd lt lly 6.6 duramax crew cab 8 foot bed . 197000 miles original. What can I do to increase mpg while Towing a 40 foot landmark fifth wheel. I'm getting 11 to 12 right now 18 mpg around town 20 to 22 highway.

For starters you can go make your own thread. Those mileage figures sound pretty good though.

TX of course
Start a thread about your issue instead of posting it in someone else's thread.

I agree though you are getting pretty good mileage. I doubt there is much you can do to get better.

Relax. You'll get more help if you start your own thread. And you won't be crowding up someone's build thread.

Not sure what kind of mileage you were looking for but that's pretty damn good. I wouldn't expect more.

Wasn't trying to be rude just trying to help out. You might gain some MPGs if you ditch the bully dog and go with a good efi live tune. Other than that most of it depends on your right foot, proper tire pressure etc.

The bully dog tuner has been disconnected since 32000 miles . I now have 197000 miles. I'm not big into after market add on's but if I can be directed in the right direction I'm listening. Thanks again for all your input and patience

you will never get that hauling a 40ft heavy wind sail. some of these guys claims are hysterical on what they get hauling a trailer like you have. honestly, your doing pretty damn good at 11-12mpg. my truck 100% stock got 9mpg at best hauling a 40ft trailer just like yours. my dads buddy claims his 2016 ford 6.7 gets 17mpg towing his 40ft 5th toyhauler to the dunes, hes higher than an old hippie on a 15ft latter with some green stuff in his pipe.

if you find a way to hit 13, your doing f-ing awesome :D

an efi live tune 100% geared to mileage when towing might squeak you to 13

my truck now with gears, 37s, built motor, twins, a tune with more time than i can remember into it, and 14k lbs 37ft 5th wheel on the back gets 10-11 doing 70.
