Hey guys I've been looking through the forums and everything I saw was a couple years or so that I could find about what I wanted to to talk about so I'm starting this thread by all means point me a another thread if it covers what I wanna talk about so now that I have that out of the way...

I've been thinking about getting a new hood because mine is messed up anyways so I was thinking of going ram air what fuel Milage gains can be expected as well as performance if any?

Also if anyone has any input on a cold air intakes?

We really need to know what truck you have first. Fill out your signature with year make and model and any mods you've already done. As far as the cold air intake, depending on the year there's not much gains. Best thing for mpg is a good tune, good exhaust, and a light foot.

Less unsprung/rotational weight like lighter tire combination will net better mileage on any vehicle.

Edit: looking at your previous post you're get decent mileage for the LB7 (as long as that's hand calculated) and assuming you don't have a lift if you're getting 22mpg.

Nope no lift and it was hand calculated although I did just start using fuelly to make things easier was just wondering if doing the ram air hood with normal driving would increase fuel Milage mostly just trying to justify buying it

Not sure how measurable the ram air will be. 10mph = 0.002psi, 60 = 0.062 psi. Not sure at what point you'd make your money back even at an increase of 1 mpg

Yea I did my injectors about 30k miles ago so should be good on that account and honestly not entirely trying to get my money back would be nice but just trying to see what gains if any after doing the hood and I do a decent amount of driving so any miles per gallon would definitely help my hood has a dent in the front of it most of the reason why I'm considering changing the hood plus the ram air hood im look at looks badass. Also may sound like an odd question would putting the ram air on cause the injectors to go quicker?

Thanks for the replies.

Lol yea I think I'll get the hood before I get the ram air setup and see if it bring the cooling temp down maybe that will make a little difference as well.

Wait...get a regular hood before you get the ram air? Isn't that counterproductive?

I'm usually pretty good about not getting hard into the pedal however after being in traffic for a little bit fun to soot people out that are being dicks :wasntme: I was in the worst traffic I've been in in a while still had 17.7 miles to a gallon but my long drives for work make up for a lot of good fuel Milage gain.

Soon as I get some money I'm knocking it all out at once. CAI, intake horn and 4" exhaust.
