well i lifted up the cover and sure enough the valley was filled with fuel. problem is that i couldnt find the actual leak. all i could see is bubbling in all the fuel below the injection pump. so im assuming the pump is leaking unless theres some lines on the bottom of it or in the area. started the joys of removing things to get to the pump. half way there with the minimal amount of time i had. this sucks!

you dont know for sure if its the cp3? it could be the pop valve or rail sensor.

both will put fuel in the valley

Have no clue. I'm new to diesels. Was hoping I could figure out where the leak was coming from once I tore into it. New to all these parts but I'm gona learn now I guess.

....all I know is that the leak is right near the pump. Truck starts up and runs with this major leak too. Does that point any specific direction?

Suck up all the fuel in the valley somehow and then start it and see if you can pinpoint at least a general direction the leak is coming from.

I'm leaning more towards a leak on the return side of things. There are two banjo bolts on the heads (one toward the front of the passenger's side and one toward the back of the driver's side), a large banjo bolt that goes into the FPRV block, and a rubber hose that comes from the CP3. I left the large banjo bolt in the FPRV block loose on a truck once, and it leaked like a sieve.

like i said earlier wrap rags around everything

if it was the cp3 it would be hard starting.....still could be that.

best to find the issue before you start swapping parts.

Park the truck on a incline so the fuel will run out of the valley. Brake clean the crap out of the valley and dry it with compressed air. Start the truck use a good flashlight get a automotive inspection mirror and start hunting.

I'm with everyone else don't tear into this thing until you have a real good idea where this leak is coming from. You can easily spend a ton money & not fix the leak.

geting aggrevated at this point. keep soaking up the fuel and have the front of the truck up so it helps the fuel run out of the valley. everything that i can possibly weasel my way into seeing seems fine. the fuel fills up super fast in the valley regardless of what i do and it still seems to be comming from under the injection pump. cant get a mirror angled right to see whats going on under there. the truck does seem a little harder to start but idles fine. i guess its time to tear it down the pump and look for a wet spot.

ok with a little redneck ingenuity i got a peek of whats going on under that pump. just had to run the truck with the coolant pipe off quick and customize a mirror. i seem to be looking at a 10mm-ish bolt on each side underneath the pump. it seems to be spraying more on the pasenger side one. now i dont know what that bolts are and im not 100% sure if its spraying fuel from behinde it or this spray is comming from ahread of it and spraying back. im getting somewhere now though
