I just picked up a 2005 3500. The guy I bought it from said the rear main seal was leaking. After getting the truck home I drained the oil to find that it had about 4 gallons in it and it smelled like diesel. Does anyone know what it may be? Injectors? Cp3? Any way to check each item?

Check injector balance rates with cts or scan tool. Fill out sig , how many miles, what mods? It will be amazing if you have not spun a bearing. Good luck!

Could be the return lines as well they can leak fuel into the oil haven't dealt with it personally but I read about it at some point along the line.

Also I believe there is a engine oil dye you can add to your fuel without replacing all 8 seals is to add it your fuel remove the valve covers do a reassembly of the fuel lines and run the engine with a black light. Also that's for a LB7 so idk if the other engines will still work out like that. While you have that stuff off you can retorque some stuff that could possible fix the problem.

Ok then couldn't the injector lines cause that as well with out it being the actual injector if they became corroded?

It is a 2005 lly with 224,000 miles. I just changed the oil since I noticed the oil change sticker was 10,000 miles over due. It built up oil pressure for a little but then it fell off. I pulled the truck up to the house and noticed it felt very weak.

Is there anyway to just replace the seal on the cp3? I seen where a company called wicked diesel used to sell these but I can't find them.

I wouldn't start it up until you've got it figured out. That much fuel going into the crankcase and wherever else is a formula for a runaway diesel...!!!!!

I finally got my obd2 wifi reader today. I pulled the 13 mil codes two of which were p0303 and p0305 cylinder 3/5 misfire. I am also reading a balance rate of 15mm on these two injectors. What does this mean?? Injector is clogged or flowing to easy??

If it is +15 then it is trying to increase the fuel up to its max which likely means it is clogged, pintle is jammed or there is an electrical issue which should have caused other codes.

Can you list all of the codes?
