Noticed big oil leak front of engine. Checked oil level.....way too much. Drove truck like this on trip over 1000 miles before i discovered problem. I think it is the CP3. Engine is running good at highway speeds, a little rough at idle. Did I do damage to bearings or internal parts with all that fuel in the oil?

What year is your truck? Sounds like a LB7, they have the most problems with fuel in oil. If it is a LB7 more likey it's injectors. I have never heard of the cp3 putting fuel in the engine oil but it could happen...

It is a 2003 with 118000 miles. Had a leaky injector line replaced and the system check at dealer about 20000 miles ago. no leaks and pressures were good at that time.

Sounds like one or more went bad, Have to check balance rates to see for sure, but usually a base pan full of fuel indicates a bad injector or a leaky injector line under the covers?

Yea sounds like a bad injector is filling the motor with fuel and it's coming out the crank case vent spilling onto the ground.

Not to hijack this thread but what is a normal oil pressure? While driving mines usually between 40 and 60 psi hot and drops down to 25 or so at idle.

My balance rates were perfectly fine while the crank case was full of fuel & leaked all over the floor. No SES light, no exhaust smoke or injector knock. More than likely injector issue. LB7s were known for having cracked injector bodies and/or ball seat erosion. Mine occurred around 100k. Bosch corrected this issue in 2008. Best way is have a dealer check for high fuel return rates.

Thanks everyone. Had it towed to shop. FYI Oil Pressures never changed since I bought it with 77000 miles ( 50 to 60 on highway and about 30 at idle) Truck ran great for the 1000 mile trip, got 20 mpg. was idleing a little rough, not bad before i left on the trip. should have check the oil then. was still running good before i had it towed to the shop.

Mine is around 60 when cruising on the highway and goes up to 70 under moderate acceleration

Duramax oil leak

I have been wondering what has been causing my oil pressure toto show "damn near zero at idle" for awhile.

Today I came out to my 2003 duramax with 200k plus miles and found alarge oil leak. I immeadiatly checked the oil level and it was over full.

Safe bet to assume injectors?

My question is this, its it safe to drive the truck to the shop?

Injectors is the popular answer. Drive it? Safe answer is no. I would do them myself BUT if I wasn't then I'd be tempted to throw some fresh oil in it to get it to the shop. Find a reputable shop, someone else could chime in with what the going rate is...

duramax oil leak

I have seen more leaking return lines than cracked bodies.

Without rough idle or smoke could my problem be something besides injectors. perhaps a leak in fuel or return lines, How would I test?
